maxjoe
Can someone help me understand if I am doing something wrong with the anti-skate? From all the videos and tutorials I have seen online, I assumed that once I set the anti-skate, the needle would sit "dead" on a flat surface like a laserdisc. However, when I set the anti-skate, there is no real "dead zone" but instead one single "dead spot" that the needle drifts towards, either from the inside or the outside of the record. Adjusting the anti-skate just changes where that one dead band is on the record, but the needle still seems to pull rather dramatically toward that point. If I set it so that this "dead spot" is in the middle of the records, is that the best I can do? Or will I be wearing out my records?
