Need advice on possible problem

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

There has been a lot of talk about getting new players, proper care of vinyl, etc., I thought now would be a good time to ask for some advice.

I have a Rotel 1100Q turntable and the Shure stylus that is currently on it may be going bad. I need some thoughts. On every record for the past couple days, the needle will just sit on the end grooves of every side of vinyl I play. It's never done that before. By sitting on the end grooves, I mean, it just sits on the "inner" part of the vinyl after all the songs have played and the needle won't "eject" off the vinyl and return the arm to it's resting position.

Does this mean the stylus/needle is going bad or is just a counter-weight problem that I should adjust on the arm?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
