I myself do not collect variants, but I prefer to have the most limited variation of a record. I didnt mind buying the 4 pack of the Listen to your Friends 7" since it wasnt too expensive. But if they press 4 colors of this LP and make you buy all of them to get the 'limited' variant, they are blatiently taking your money...a lot of money. Sure, I dont have to buy it...but Im probably going to. $20+ for the same song 8 times? i don't know man. seems like a waste of money to me. Sure, I dont have to buy it...but Im probably going to. i like to have the most limited variation, too, but i won't be crushed if i miss out on it because it's in a package deal. i liked that the tip of the iceberg 7" came with a special cover for the first howevermany orders. You don't think of these things when you buy gig tickets months in advance. At least I have a week to find someone to pick me up a set. I just managed to get Sticks and Stones on red (no I wasn't the person that paid over $200 on ebay the other week) so I'm not going to let my collection slip behind now.
