jon720
If anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it. I bought a Marantz 2230 about a month ago and brand new B&W speakers. Recently, I took the needle off the TT and noticed that the right speaker has really bad static once the needle left the record. I switched speakers, but it doesn't seem to go away. Anyone know what it could be? I doubt it's the speakers because their brand new, possibly the receiver?
xunspokenliesx
Is your needle hooked up correctly? Might be a loose wire on the needle...
jon720
yeah, everything seems to be good. I have one where you just kinda put it in. No wires or anything to connect.
kyle
I have a slight hum/static noise with my Marantz 2216 and Epos ELS-3 speakers. I'm pretty sure the hum is caused by the phono input in the Marantz. I plan on replacing the Marantz with a tube amp and pre-amp setup so it doesn't bother me much at this point. celebdeath
you're getting a lot of non-direct signal noise. how is the sound when you play a record? does it cut in and out? it could well be the phono input, as Kyle mentioned, but it could also be your right channel which may need a clean out/replacement. take it to your local hifi service guy to have a look at it. you have a decent set-up so i wouldnt necessarily replace your system or anything major like that.
