monk0nuggets
So, my computer shit the bed. I woke up this morning and it was off for some reason, and it would not boot. After hours of trying different ways of getting it to boot, I installed a second version of XP on the harddrive partition style. Now, is it possible to access my files on my old OS, from my new OS? punkrudeboy
As long as you didn't wipe the old partition I don't see why not.
monk0nuggets
I didn't, but I can't seem to find anything online that lets me do this. Also, I can't get my old computer connected to the internet with the OS. This is fucking frustrating.
monk0nuggets
Holy shit. Finally found the right drivers, so I'm now online with old POS. Redownloading all the updates.
monk0nuggets
I can't believe it. After 7 hours of fighting with this thing, I found a program called TestDisk that lets you dig through deleted and damaged files and copy it to working harddrive space. Nice! monk0nuggets
Or you could just get a Mac and not worry about any of this shit ever again.Just sayin'. It's just not in the cards. Not only am I too fucking broke to do that, I grew up using PCs and I consider myself pretty good with them. My GF has a macbook and I use it once in a while, but I really don't like it all that much.

kirbypuckett
lol mac users love to talk out their asses and act superior any time someone brings up a pc problem. I'm typing this from a Mac and I've had more issues w/ them than PCs. I don't like OS message board wars. Everything is on the web now and OSes are practically pointless. andrew13
i have too. my pc bricking this week is the first real issue i've ever had. macs it seems like my parents have problems couple times a year, and major problems 2 or 3 times i can remember. we've had 3 macs in 15 years just totally die on us. my PC i believe it's a mother board issue, which i can fix myself easily once i get the part from newegg. brettall
My Macbook's hard drive died on me after about 10 months. Happened to a couple of my friends as well. Apple was aware of the issue, but didn't feel like letting anyone know before they bought. I have a Time Capsule now, so no big deal. But yes, Macs can fail too. punkrudeboy
Some people act as if apple manufactures it's own components, which they don't. They use maxtor and hitachi hard drives just like dell and hp. and yes they do die on occasion.
monk0nuggets
I saved my files today to my external. Gonna wipe it tomorrow after work and install a clean version of Vista Business. We'll see what happens.
