beachmont
hello vc snowboarders! i am upgrading my board this year. i started out on a k2 fuse, i think it's like four years old now. looking for a good all mountain board, and narrowed it down to a 2008 burton custom or a k2 darkstar. but i'm open to suggestions. i'm about 5'6 and around 190. help me out! cj
i'm a big burton fan so i'd say go with that, but with a burton board you need burton bindings as well. they're the only bindings made for the bolt pattern. with the k2 you can get flow or drake or forum or whatever kind you feel like. brentoage
burton custom's are the only way to go. only board i would ever buy.
beachmont
thanks for your suggestions dudes, i didn't know that info about burton boards...both sales reps i've talked to failed to mention that burton boards only work with burton bindings...nice avatar brentoage! username
i'm biased towards k2 but that's just me. my board's never given me any problems

heavyheavylowlow
I have a k2 dark2tar, which is in my opinion the best board I've ever had, but Burton is shit, your fucked on binding choice, they over charge and are just a shit company. Get a Batalleon Evil Twin. AMAZING BOARDS!
username
username - whats your ride? k2 access wide. bought it about 5 or 6 years ago, it's been great
beachmont
like i said i've had a k2 fuse and it's been a pretty good board for the 3-4 years. can you get adapter plates for a burton? or is that more of a hassle than it's worth? cj
can you get adapter plates for a burton? or is that more of a hassle than it's worth? to be honest i dont really know. like i said before i'm a burton fan so it's never really been much of a problem for me. all that being said, i'm looking at getting an NFA snowboard this year instead of a burton. benc
I'm looking to upgrade this year as well. I have an 2002 Option Signature I love it, but it's seven years old and I think I need to upgrade. I also need new bindings. Right now I have Flows from 1999 - didn't realize they were that old until I wrote it down. I love Flow and probably won't ever buy another brand. I didn't have much time to ride during law school, but I think I will get out more often this year.
cosmonaut
OP: what kind of riding are you into? If you're into all-mountain, don't get a pipe/park board & vice-versa. Never Summer makes sick boards. Small company, located in Denver. I like the Premier FR-1: http://www.neversummer.com/snow/premier.html

brentoage
you can get baseplate/adapters to use other bindings on a burton board. i rode a custom with drake bindings last year.

partysmasher
This time in three weeks i'll be shredding in Tignes on an early season trip. Not ridden park in five years but given that it's unlikely there'll be any considerable pow available it looks like im gonna be hitting it up, i'm actually pretty excited to scare myself a bit! Tignes is amazing. I have a good friend who lives there and I stayed up there and in Val d'Iser for a few weeks. It's massive. Hope there's good snow for you.
