lechevre
Why do they cost so damn much to fix? Yeah, I know you need to, but still no more vinyl for me for a few weeks,
Guest scriptedrain
Yeah, all car parts suck to replace / fix. Sorry to hear about that - Jeff

ps
Do that shit yourself, it cost me a little over $40 and half a saturday. I had never done it before, and I really enjoyed it. All I needed was pads and shoes, I imagine w/rotors it would get much more expensive. good luck!!
skumbucket
yeah, stuff is way cheaper to fix by yourself.
lechevre
That was the problem....heh. My girlfriend and I changed the pads last year. She's just better at it than I am. But the rotors warped. So I basically just had them redo it all so it was good to go for a while. At least I can stop again, but I guess I just needed to bitch a little bit and get it off my chest. -andy
benchwarmer
I fucking hate paying for car repairs. I had to drop $700 on my car in a 2 weeks span, it was horrible.

Its only a couple more steps after changing your brake pads. ALWAYS change your brakes at the first sign of squeeking. When you change your pads, yank the rotors off and take them to Pep Boys to have them turned. It costs ~$8 per rotor. A full brake job ends up costing less than $60 vs. $300+ at some shop. sgoodcore
I remember being about 17 or so and not having money for a brake job. I drove a stick shift S10 and I would use the clutch to help stopping. It got so bad I had to just go get it done. Well I get there and the mechanic calls me over about 10 minutes in and says he needs to replace my rotor. He wants to show it to me. It had a massive channel in it. I had totally worn away the pad so the notches that held the pad ate in to the rotor. It was the coolest thing I'd seen. I don't recommend doing that though.
