question/help about making book/zine!!!

since this is the only message board i post on (although rarely), i figured id post this question.. plus, i had a feeling id get some helpful answers.

so i wanna start this project, as of right now i think itll be a book. its gonna be a fake journal, and each page will be like a notebook page. everything will be hand written, drawn, and colored. think that kurt cobain journal.. except ya know.. not real.

i only have experience with scanning work into my computer as a means to post it online. i was wondering if for those of you who had experience doing something like this (maybe a zine) would have any tips for me in regards to formatting and printing this in a cheap yet nice looking fashion.

this seems pretty vague now that ive written it all out, but i guess im looking for maybe a guide online to how to produce your own book/zine, with an emphasis on scanning all the materials and using a program like photoshop to make it look good.. and the finally the printing and producing process.

there's a lot to consider when printing your own zine. size content, if its gonna be black and white/ color, bound, or stapled, etc etc. what size were you looking to make it? how much were you looking to charge? and do you want to do it diy style or professional. diy is basically copying it at kinkos, stapling all the books yourself, then taking them back for cutting the bleeds so it's all nice and neat. there are guides, but unless you know what you are looking to do, you might be a bit confused by all that is out there.
