I feel so sorry for you dude. I lived in Aus for a year (Gold Coast) and saw a few shows in Brisbane (Alexisonfire/Moneen, Darkest Hour/Everytime I Die, Brand New) and it seems like the minimum cost for a show is like $50 AUD, no matter what. I drove around for an hour and a half looking for the Tivoli until I found some kids that looked like they would be going to a Brand New concert and I followed them.
