nivek87
Today and a couple visits ago, there has been small in-store shows (local band one time and some dubstep the other time) going on at a local shop , however; both times I went to shop, I was only planning on digging through the bins. So, both times thats exactly what I did. However, both times I got looks from people attending the show like I was crazy and rude. Honestly, I have no problem with it because it can be nice listening to live music (minus the dubstep) and digging through the bins at the same time, but apparently people have a problem with it. There were only a few people watching both times, but almost every single one of them were leaning against the bins. So every time I moved to the next bin, I got the stank eye and a look like I just took a shit on their shoes. Anyone been in one of these situations? hellbent
That's happen to me. A long time ago Plan White T's played a show at Bossa Nova, a record store in a suburb of Chicago, and people were really pissed I'd rather be there for the records an not the music. It is what it is. I didn't care and neither should the people attending the "show".
nothingnatural
We have in stores at my work semi regularly and there's always a mix of shoppers and people only there for the show. People are always courteous to those shopping but we have the place set up in such a way that most of the people there just for the show won't have to lean on racks. Bottom line is, it's still a business so if people have a problem with you looking at stuff during a show, they can get fucked. I'm sorry you had to be there during a shit step show. serum7
The point of an in store performance is to draw business into the shop. So if people aren't buying stuff then they're doing it wrong.
ronniegwilliams
I've had to deal with this a few times. Like any other situation, I try to be as polite and curtious to everyone around me. If they choose not to do the same, then that is their decision. I then proceed to find the rude attendee's girlfriend and ensure I am suave enough to make her leave her rude boyfriend immediately only to make sweet sweet love on the hood of her now ex-boyfriend's car (and/or mother's mini van). apirk
There is nothing wrong with shopping during an in store, I am guessing the store would appreciate it. I often shop during in stores I am there to see, I just can't help but browse if they are just right in front of me.
