xxbyaaahxx
So my entry level tt/cassette/amp unit that I picked up at a yard sale crapped out on me. After finally getting a new job and having money coming in, I have decided to start piecing together a new system. Speakers I am leaving last as I cant see shipping them to Canada being cheap, so I will probably look locally for those. As for the rest, here is what I am thinking of picking up so far Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Cambridge Audio Topaz AM10 Integrated Amp Cambridge Audio Azur 551P Phono Preamp Let me know what you think, make suggestions based on what those are worth for something that may work better around the same dollar value, and while at it, if you have some reccomendations on speakers so I can start looking into those as well. heypeterman
The Topaz has a built-in phono stage so not really necessary to grab the 551P. Where are you planning to pick this up? There are dealers in Calgary and I'm sure there are some in Edmonton although that still looks like quite the drive for you.
xxbyaaahxx
I found a site online with a decent shipping price. I live like 2 hours from Edmonton, I go there often. Who would carry this stuff?
heypeterman
Cambridge Audio dealers: http://www.cambridgeaudio.com/dealers Plurison is the Canadian distributor for Cambridge and Pro-Ject. Pro-Ject doesn't list their dealers but you can email Plurison. I assume the dealers that carry Cambridge also carry Pro-Ject. Also, Canadian dealer pricing for the Debut Carbon is higher at $449. The Topaz is $399.

slinch
Since you were prepared to drop around $600 in your initial post, here are some options to think over in that (or slightly above ) price range: Audiolab 8200A: (you'd have to add a phono stage) http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649069238-audiolab_8200a/ Rega Mira 3: http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649063902-rega_mira_3_with_remote/ Rega Brio R: (insanely good amp for that price) http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649070056-rega_brio_r/ Musical Fidelity A3: (I've been using one of these for the past 4 or 5 years, such a wonderful amp) http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649061838-musical_fidelity_a3_85wp_dual_mono/
