akross
Target makes you exchange whatever your returned item is for something of equal or greater value if you don't have a receipt. Not entirely true. Target can accept returns without receipt 2 times per year (they scan your ID to do this) for the price that the item is selling for that day. Of course if you have a shitty guest service person, then you may get stuck just exchanging...

Because when I tried to return an iPod Shuffle I was gifted for Christmas in 2006, they would only let me pick out something from electronics that was of equal or greater value, they wouldn't just issue me a gift card. kirbypuckett
You can return any item at Wal-Mart 3 times a year. However, you can do it 3 times a year at ANY Wal-Mart! There's over 5 in Pittsburgh, so I'm solid all year. I never knew about Best Buy, I'm close on my limit. I just returned something to Target w/ a our a receipt w/ no problem the other day. ...this doesn't apply to me, because I collect all things Weezer. Should be all things across the board, unless the store has their own policy regarding locked items...dunno.
