PUMPED FOR THIS.

In addition to working with their respective bands, Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood and the National's Bryce Dessner both compose classical music. On March 3, a split release from Dessner and Greenwood will be out through Deutsche Grammophon/Universal Classics. It compiles three orchestral works by Dessner with a suite from Greenwood's soundtrack for There Will Be Blood.

Dessner's contributions include 2011's "St. Carolyn by the Sea", with both Bryce and his brother/fellow National member Aaron Dessner on electric guitar, plus 2012's "Lachrimae", and 2007's "Raphael", performed here by the Copenhagen Phil and conducted by André de Ridder. The two artists were paired together for their "quintessentially American themes such as the vast expanses of the country’s landscape, or a sense of nostalgic longing," according to a press release.

Has anyone seen the Bodysong documentary Johnny Greenwood did the soundtrack for?

I got super high with a couple friends and started watching it. It starts out all super awesome, cool and trippy and then there's like a solid 5 minutes of women giving birth in every possible way imaginable. Some standing over water, some squatting in water, some totally submerged in water, some upside down, some in the desert, some in a hospital, some violent and fast, some slow and painful, some w/ a lotta blood, some w/ a lotta poop and blood, etc. Every one was either covering their eyes and/or covering their eyes and screaming to fast forward it. It was awful. Rest of the film is pretty cool and the soundtrack is great.
