Shinji
This is probably a totally dumb question, but I just bought some new speakers and a record weight, more specifically this one: http://www.sleevecityusa.com/sleeve-city-record-weight-p/sc-wt.htm (1 pound, 454 gram) Will this cause the turntable to spin slow due to extra weight or am I just over-thinking it? Hopefully the latter. I play my records on a Debut Carbon, if that matters.
Requiescat
It might but I doubt it. You may want to verify your turntable's speed via a strobe or something similar to see if it causes any issues.

mcguirk
No, it doesn't matter. Think of it as two pulleys (for a belt driven setup). The powered pulley isn't affected by how heavy the unpowered one is. It will just take a longer time to reach the same speed. My Thorens with a nice, big alloy platter can take 30 or more seconds to reach a solid 33 RPM. My old Debut III with the Acryl-it would take just a tenth of that. Clamps and weights are only a problem on suspended turntables, where the additional weight requires spring adjustment. That said, if your belt is on the way out, a weight could exascerbate the problem.

Questions like this are far better to ask here, I can never find the right words to use to search for questions I need to ask on Google, haha.
