North East Ohio Record stores?

Recommended Posts

There are quite a few people from this area on this board and am asking them for advice on where to go look. We have one small store here, and then their the the chain store The Exchange but both are not great and the exchange is usually a nightmare to look through. I am willing to go up to Cleveland and over to Youngstown for some decent stores. I have also heard there are a few over on campus in Kent, but I haven't confirmed this since i haven't been on that campus in a year or two. Thanks for any help.

On the East side of Cleveland, right next to the Beachland Ballroom, is Music Saves. They have a really solid vinyl selection, although I find it to be a tad pricey at times - http://www.musicsaves.com/

In Lakewood (western suburb), there's My Mind's Eye, which is about as big as your average bedroom closet but usually has a pretty good selection - http://www.mymindseyerecords.com/

Out in Mentor (eastern suburb), there's a store who has a good selection but it's name completely escapes me -- maybe someone else can fill in my blank? Their employees are clueless morons, however.

Finally, there's Bent Crayon, on the west side of Cleveland. Imagine the snobbiest record clerk you could ever come up with, then multiply that by 10 or so, and you'd be close to what the owner of Bent Crayon is like on a good day. You'll always find some truly bizarre and awesome shit there (especially imports, and especially if you're into electronic or noise music), but you'll definitely get talked down to the whole time you're there - http://www.bentcrayon.com/

That is about the size of Square Records over in the Highland Square area of West Akron. I like it because it is a 5 minute walk from my parent's house, but there new selection is really small and their used stuff is usually only old 70's LPs.
