  1. this. the only "requirement" they have with delivery confirmation is that it a delivery scan is made when it arrives - although usually it will pick up a scan here or there along the way to you there are times when it will just miss all of those and just randomly show up on your doorstep. all the number piratespress means is that they electronically notified/printed out postage as to if it got dropped off-- unless it was scanned upon receiving it (I always request our packages we drop off are) - it could be on its way- it could not be. just e-mail them and let them know the tracking number they gave shows no updates at all - and inquire to if it was actually shipped and what day.
  2. not our release, but I think these kids are awesome and like what they are up to so figured I'd post this up. I'm bad with describing music, but younger kids from the SC area who play excellent music (bandcamp linked at bottom, Mayfly records put their EP in their top five for 2012). they just self released a small run of 100 tapes with all proceeds from them being donated to two local charity organizations depending on which color tape you select (red going to a local childrens home/blue going to a local no kill animal rescue). its $5 and available directly from them on their bigcartel: http://kato.bigcartel.com/product/came-with-nothing-left-with-nothing-donation-cassette you can give it a listen: http://kat0.bandcamp.com
  3. Jackson who runs that shop is awesome, definitely worth a visit! I believe most of their inventory is available online now too
  4. whoops missed this post! but Ritual Music and Books! http://www.ritualmusic.com.au/
  5. he wasn't implying that it was. he was trying to figure out how they only charge $4.75 to get it to him IN australia from california and in a week.
  6. they more than likely have a freight forwarder in california - I don't know the full details of how it works out but there is an awesome record shop in Melbourne who I know does that to import a lot of stuff over. our stuff ships to his forwarder in florida then heads over to him
  7. bummer on the spine, wish the dent in our cover would have at least been on the back cover instead of front and center on it haha its about the size of a penny or less, not very deep - but I know its there. oh well! a simple cardboard pad on both sides would have prevented it too - shame!-
  8. mail day! corners were well protected inside the box, a bit bummed there was absolutely no cardboard pad in the front or the back of the box (just a lot of filler crimethinc literature) and of course the box got a huge gouge in the center which caused a nice lil dent right in the center of the front cover ;x annoyed and think the colored vinyl choices are really hokey (would have been much happier with just a solid one color set of records - and not like it would have made any difference on price) - but happy we were able to grab the limited version either way since those things went quick! haven't got to give any of them a spin on the turntable yet, that shall be once wife gets home from work!
  9. one last bump for now. we are about 1/4 sold out of our 100 copies. thanks for the support thusfar if there are any silent people who ordered
  10. *thumbs up* excited this is rolling along, can't wait till we have a working example of the packaging to showcase - it is going to be pretty awesome.
  11. we picked up a copy on green for us also when they first went up. seriously sounds great. amazing/sad to me that those green copies still aren't sold out
  12. pretty simple and to the point. False Light released this EP digitally last year and on a small run of tapes, the band, Headfirst! (US), and Dead Chemists (UK) have teamed up to give it a proper vinyl release. /300 on "murky water" colored vinyl, foldout covers, with screenprinted obi strips with 100 being available from each label as well as 100 directly through the band. stream it here: http://thefalselight.bandcamp.com/ download it free here: http://www.mediafire.com/?9dwbezwgx1748xm pre-orders from: Headfirst! Records (US - http://headfirstrecords.limitedrun.com/) Dead Chemists Records (UK - http://deadchemists.bigcartel.com/) shipping in March!
  13. just posting to say that is rad, I worked a job a few years back that had an almost identical "pay you extra" in store credit perk to working there. pretty much if the store was busier than usual, you did something they liked, or you worked during crazy textbook buyback time (it was a used book/music/video game/movie store) theyd give you extra store credit youd also get a % of your check added onto store credit the credit racked up really really quickly -- in the few months I worked there picked up tons of cool shit but they never really focused much on vinyl and had anything of that caliber.
  14. for small parcels they will be even more expensive than USPS. for larger parcels USPS is still the cheaper service also the source "problem" with the new pricing now is that it hurts for people who want to order just one or two small items (more so than it already did).. larger/combined/bigger distro/wholesale orders aren't affected nearly as bad.
  15. ^ I might be mistaken but I don't think they were referring to losing out on colors that were shorted from the plant... but rather ordering regular instock items with their preorders...and noone pulled the item(s) so once the preorder came in and was ready to be sent out---the original record was no longer in stock (which should have been pulled and held to go out with the rest of the order) -- thus them losing out on the now out of stock records.
  16. man....if only I had found this before I stayed up last night hahaha edit: whoops actually nevermind just US shipping rates on it... either way useful! added this to my first post
  17. in all reality they already have. rates go up on the 27th which is sunday this. most of the fleecing for shipping cost is on smaller orders... if you are planning on ordering a single shirt or a single record from the US overseas...you pay for it. if you are ordering a 10-15 lb box worth of stuff, the price is pretty minimal when broken down across multiple records. really not as bad as I thought it would be in that regard -- but friends throwing in together for orders and labels/distros combining orders from labels (which in all reality should have been already happening/does happen as it was already a better/more efficient way of doing things.) its not much different than printing up items. printing 500 record covers vs printing 1000 a lot of the cost is frontloaded and in the process itself
