  1. Depeche Mode - 70 Devo - 15 Gary Numan/Tubeway Army - 28 Morrissey - 30 The Smiths - 25 The Sisters of Mercy - 23 Oasis - 23 The Cure - 23 Buzzcocks - 16 These numbers are 12-inches only, they go up a lot with 7-inches included.
  2. I have a lot of that. But I don't think there is much chance that I'll get rid of it. Solid taste in 77 style punk.
  3. Hell, I just saw a plug for another new label, why not plug mine... NNN-001 is out. The band is called The Conniption Fitts from Carbondale IL. They have played with heavy garage rock hitters such as The Marked Men, The Wax Museums, Modern Machines, Cheap Time, etc. They sound a lot like all of the above mentioned. A definite for fans of Carbonas, Beat Beat Beat, The Sonics, etc. Check out their myspace at http://www.myspace.com/theconniptionfitts Buy them from http://www.myspace.com/neatneatneatrecords $5 ppd. The myspace cart isn't working right yet, so in the meantime, paypal $5 to [email protected] and I will ship one out straight away. The cart should be functioning in the next few days. First orders will get the pink or green marble copies! 300 total, most are on grey and pink marble. There are about 20 green marble, and 20 pink marble. Future releases: NNN-002 - Static Static (NJ) NNN-003 - Dance Terror (Portland)
  4. I have those Blur records. This shows how long I've been collecting... I picked them up only a few years after they came out for about $10 each used. Was the Caesars "39 Minutes of Bliss" ever released on vinyl?
  5. Morrissey - #1 - Your Arsenal, #2 - You Are The Quarry Smiths - #1 - The Queen is Dead, #2 - Self Titled With Morrissey, his early stuff is more pop, and his newer stuff is more rock. They are kinda different. It all changed right around "Vauxhaul and I", which is considered his most mature album by critics, but it's not as catchy or upbeat as his other albums. Also, a lot of Morrissey's best work is his B-Sides... There is a compilation called "My Early Burglary Years" that has some of the best ones on it. Standout tracks - "At Amber", "Sister I'm a Poet", and probably my favorite Morrissey song, "Jack The Ripper", which is live on this comp but probably better than the studio version. And that's usually a hard feat!
  6. Better cartridges track the inner grooves better. The cheaper ones will cause more distortion from the stylus jumping around inside of the inner groove, and damaging it over time. And a protractor is a must to minimalize this distortion.
  7. http://www.douchemasterrecords.blogspot.com/ 1000 made, and I guess only about 200 made it to the US. Get it while you can!
  8. It's an awesome idea. But yeah, I've got nearly all of the original 12" singles. Too bad there are far more than 250 of those. I'm considering it...
  9. Wall mount that turntable and buy noise isolating feet for it. I've also heard about shelving units for audio gear that you can fill with sand that dampen vibrations. And why not spend $1000's to listen to punk records? It still sounds better than some mp3 or overcompressed CD.
  10. Damn reissues... I have all of the original pressings of the only Metallica albums that count - Kill 'em All, Lightning, Puppets, and Justice. Hell, Kill 'em all and Lightning are Megaforce pressings. I even have the Creeping Death EP and Garage Days Re-visited. And I'm still considering buying the double LP's. Yikes!
  11. I would recommend staying away from the USB turntables. They're cheaply made, they stylus is sub-par, and your USB isn't really made for recording music. A better option is to get a good sound card for recording (I recommend the M-Audio 192, affordable and perfect for the job), get a decent stylus and and do it that way. Costs about the same, better results. And the crappy phone preamp. Of course this method only works if you have a decent turntable and stylus to begin with. Bad in, bad out. As was mentioned earlier, cheaper decks and stylus' will distort on the inner tracks, and even worse, this distortion can cause permanent damage to your records. Unfortunately, this is not limited to just these turntables, but many more of the cheaper decks. In analog, you really do get what you pay for. Also many people use DJ decks which are great for scratching, but not so much for hi fidelity audio. The best thing I ever did was buy a Masterlink by Alesis. It's a stand alone digital recorder, and it makes ripping vinyl kinda like recording recording to cassette tapes. I recommend selling a few rare records on ebay to buy some awesome equipment. I think I sold about six records and was able to buy a really good set up. You'll be far happier doing that than using a USB turntable.
  12. I found a copy of Jack Kevorkian and the Suicide Machines "Green World" cassette that I bought at a show back in 1995. I know it's a cassette, I think it's the only one I still own. It's going on ebay unless someone on here wants to trade for it. I want to trade for records, that's why I feel this is a relevant post. Anyway, I'm looking for Jay Reatard, Carbonas, Beat Beat Beat, Lost Sounds, etc. Mostly early rare 7" singles. I have most of the newer stuff. I'll post a full list later of stuff I"m looking for. If anyone may have some stuff I'm looking for, maybe we can trade.
  13. They should put The Network "Money Money 2020" out on vinyl.
  14. It seems like this board is mostly punk/hardcore/emo kids, but I'm sure some of you cross genres. This is for those of you who do. A new company called Vinyl 180 out of Europe has re-issued the Pleasure Principle and Replicas on 180 gram vinyl, from the original tapes. In the near future, they're doing some Bauhaus and Dead Can Dance records. It sound like it's going to be similar to the Metallica re-issues - available as a single disc or more limited double disc. If you're not familiar with Gary Numan (outside of uber hit Cars), check him out. It was his work that created the template for the modern synthpunk genre. For those of you who like more than just punk.
  15. I can trade, i have a lot of stuff, but no list yet. Hence, I'd rather buy them. Any color will do.
