  1. You are not very observant, are you? Hahaha.

nope. not at all. just haven't checked the site in a bit. good to see!

They snuck them in on us. They just showed up in a box a couple months back and we were like, what? Huh? They look cool as hell with a translucent record spinning. Otherwise, I think slip mats are kinda weird. What purpose do they serve? (I am not being facetious here.) I'm not back-spinning or whatnot. They also require the removal of the rubber mat that WAS on my turntable, or else the tone arm scratches my records when it lifts up and returns. Ugh! Always hated that sound! They look cool as heck though. Neat stuff.

  2. ZING!! Haha, I'm just messing with you, Scott. You're still on the list, haha.

It's not a big deal at all. We are not 100% on this, so I don't want anyone feeling entitled. Technology is a tricky thing. We are taking this slow, as caution dictates.

    Suitably vague?

No Idea Records? Taking a project slow? I AM IN SHOCK.

If you want to have a good chuckle, go to altpress.com and search for "til the wheels fall off." There, you'll find what was supposed to be that album's original release date, entered into our database three years ago.

Back when it was 12 songs, you mean? Before 11 more got added? Before The DRAFT was putting out an LP and needed a window with no HWM record on top of it, before Chuck had an album coming out, before... yawn... what was I saying? Wake me up tomorrow. Oh yeah, am I supposed to be leaking any secrets here? Okay, how about this: Forever and Counting vinyl finally arrived too. I'm curious to get feedback when people see it. Four fancy ass colors, all in the same quantities (550 each). Ummm, no. Nothing else to report. Ironically, it finally gets green vinyl, but the art is no longer green. Go figure. I always wanted a green copy of that record to match the cover. Ha. C'est La Vie! OH! I have that secret now: the first pressing has labels with the OLD art (green). The 2nd pressing will have updated labels with the new art (not green). Confused yet? GOOD.

-- And there also might have been a WEE BIT of ME be an obsessive fuckwad. I mean, think about it: your mission is to build FROM SCRATCH the graphic-design last will and testament of one of your favorite bands of all time. Not joking! How freaking hard is that? I wanted it to be a book. Luckily, they decided to play shows again, so I lightened up... and also Chrissie Piper popped up last-minute with the photos that had been haunting my memory for years, Wollard found a sweet painting to add... and a lot of karmic shite lined up just right. Thanks to BYO and JT as well.

  3. We (No Idea) have made absolutely NO COMMITMENT to including download codes with our vinyl. REMEMBER THAT. We have in NO WAY publicly stated that we are doing this. There are no stickers proclaiming this concept, there are no mentions of it anywhere. Remember that.

The B&T download that is mentioned in this thread was strictly for REVIEW PURPOSES and NOT for the general public. It has no bearing on anything. We have made no statement that the B&T LP will come with a download. No promises.

Shit, Var, I'm sorry. This is totally my bad; I guess I misunderstood what Tony emailed me. Please forgive.

  4. Nope, other than being signed up for the 7" club. Some of that Bac.Sour stuff is insane. I like the more recent Pushead vinyl toys too.

Oh... the 7" club. I signed up for both parts of Phase San 9 years (!!!) ago, and have yet to receive a single one. :'(

I always thought the same thing. I think it never happened. Maybe we'll all be surprised someday?

I mean, if I got a pile of Pushead records tomorrow, I sure wouldn't mind that it had been a decade, haha! But speaking from experience, the instant someone signs up for a singles club, they move with no forwarding address. Without fail. So his list is WAAAAY out of date, haha!

That said, we usually post the FREE MP3 on our site simply as a way for people to peep a band or song. Early on, we had no way to stream anything, so this was the only way we had to do it. That people could download the MP3 was not our main intention, but rather a side result. We used the bitrate (160?) that would not screw us up, as far as our web traffic went. And so it goes and here we are almost 10 years later.

CDs sound a bazillion times better than MP3s. Bitrate, shitrate. I'm sure any and everyone can scam a lossless copy of anything ever released digitally. Plus, everyone is so used to iPods, they are accepting of a lesser form in the MP3. BUT, it's so freaking convenient. And most people play music in surroundings that mask any high fidelity whatsoever... walking down the street, etc. So the MP3 at any bitrate sounds better than the radio. So who cares? Almost nobody. Ha!

I betcha most people have their iTunes set to import at 160 without even realizing it. I did.

  6. Var, who did your covers when you did the HWM/Tomorrow split? Still one of the nicest layouts I've ever seen.

Speaking of layouts, did you have anything to do with Bacteria Sour when that was still a real label?

Dorado press. They rule. They are in California. I highly recommend them as well. They did all of our jackets early on. We still use them here and there. Top quality.

Nope, other than being signed up for the 7" club. Some of that Bac.Sour stuff is insane. I like the more recent Pushead vinyl toys too.

  7. I didn't get all the way through yet, so hopefully they don't advocate punching ostriches on the last page. Ha.

    I just blew snot.

I would love to have a handful of the pellets in a jar. Var (or anyone), I know I've asked Matt before but where are the NI! records pressed at? I wanna see that process. Especially for splits, splatters and puked up pizza and such.

90% pressed at United, 10% Musicol. At one point Erika was 100%, but we only do maybe 2 titles a year there now. Sure to do more in the future. They are in California. We are in Florida. The shipping is too high and we lose a week. At a point after Erika, it was 90% pressed at Alpha, but they are at 0% right now. They might have a comeback. Time will tell. Only pressed one record each at Bill Smith (in 1987), GZ (FHH "not revenge"), and RTI (Schlong/OEO split). We also used one or two plants in the early 90's that closed long ago.

We print our record labels 80% at Hamlett and 20% at Imprint. Sometimes more like 95% at Hamlett. We print our LP Jackets at Ross Ellis. Most inserts and 7" print and posters are printed at Imprint. Sometimes at local photocopy places. We do 100% of our screen printed stuff (shirts, record covers, etc) at Aesthetic Print and Design. Vinyl stickers at Contagious Graphics (who once did all of our shirts too).

We master all of our records with Michael Sarsfield at REM Sound (used to be at Frankford/Wayne). Meaning he cuts the lacquers.

Derron Nuhfer at Sarlacc masters most of our stuff (records some of it too). Meaning, he takes our mixes and spanks them, creates correct CD masters to mail to the plants that will actually play, etc. Ha.

We do some of our plating at Mastercraft in NJ.

What the hell else do you want to know, haha!?!

-- If you talk to any of these people, tell them you got their contact info from us.

  8. okay, more savage pimping!

CHEAP TRAGEDIES 7" on a few colors. Boxes just arrived!

    ANX-002 / NIR 235.5 - CHEAP TRAGEDIES "Cheap Tragedies" 7"

    First Pressing: 375 Purple, 325 Grey, 300 Grey-Purple/Purple-Grey, 25 Raspberry, 13 Light Grey (7/17/2008)

If you want to be all uber-nerd about it, you could say that there are both Purple and Light Purple, but we are just saying 375 Purple. Ha! If you super-care, then just ask.

The 2nd release on HIGH ANXIETY, a new label run by Chris Colohan (Cursed/Swarm/etc) and Var (No Idea)! Cleveland's finest needs no introduction in DIY hardcore, from the first generation Clevo-core of Face Value to his place in the rise of chaotic, volatile hardcore in the 90's. When the Kids were sitting cross-legged on VFW Hall floors, Erba & Co. was throwing hammers at them with bands like H100s and 9 SHOCKS TERROR. Erba saved my life, showed my me a lot of really sick snuff, and once staple gunned a hat to my head. Still pissed, he's teamed up with some sweet dudes who've put in their own time in bands like COMMITTED, HOLY FUCKING CRAP, IRON TEETH, NAMES FOR GRAVES, AMPS II ELEVEN, and THE LOVEKILL. Pissed off punk rants that could only come from the working class midwest, plus 2 covers of early 80's Cleveland legends the Guns. - Chris Colohan

  9. We have a hard time deciding too... that's why we picked three colors, haha! We all wanted that tinted-clear stuff... and white seemed nice, but having ONLY clear and white was weird... so we added blue. Hopefully it will be a light blue. We'll see. (Plus we want to make you sweat trying to decide, haha!)

Really, I'm hoping it goes into a 2nd press pretty fast, because I really want to follow up with a mint green. Ha!

  10. BRIDGE AND TUNNEL "East / West" LP

    Nerd Up!

First press, from 100-250 of each color: White / Blue / Sea Glass Clear.

"Release date" = August 19, 2008. Probably ship some LPs a little early. Dunno until they show.

    Stream the whole freaking thing:

PLUS! Bridge and Tunnel on the Pink Couch (acoustic!):

    http://www.ifyoumakeit.com/video/bridge-and-tunnel/call-to-the-comptroller-s-office/

Okay, that's all the pimping I can do without an Imperial.

  11. -- No choice on the vinyl color. Feel free to take your favorite color (from your collection) and put it in the sleeve. Ha.

-- Nope, not Vertical. Nice pimping, though. Aesthetic Print and Design. OG Gainesville print mob. Respect. (Oh shit, how's THAT for pimping?!)

-- And when I say No choice, I don't mean NO CHOICE, although that would be interesting too. A little more Wales, though.

-- Terrible ideas. Gotta love 'em.

  12. -- Yes, gonna do the 180 RAR. Probably 300 copies. More info later. I dunno how many people will care, but it will be an interesting experiment.

-- Yeah, I said it, so I'll back up the custom screened RAR idiocy. I was actually joking, but I'll sure as heck do it. Most of that $ will go toward the poor sap that will have to burn the screens and do the printing. Damn.
