  1. Yea, I just found that on NIR, I'm guessing /187 gray. Or I'll turn some lights on and look for some green, but I doubt it's that one.

Let it pain you that the 23rd pressing will arrive late August. (And please dear god don;t ask any questions about it: we don;t know) I wonder how many copies will be grey? Any bets? Someone should start a pool. Except that gambling is illegal, right kids? ;)

  2. Addressing a few different comments:

"I order basically as much as I can from No Idea because they are my gods"

To badly quote, "What poor gods we make."

But what is up with certain pre-orders only being available with a shirt? There are a ton of pressings I've passed on order just because I don't want to pay for yet another shirt (I have boxes and boxes).

We only did five pre-orders that came with shirts, as I recall (and that includes doing Ampere/Ringers twice). We kept the pre-orders open for a pre-set amount of time and when that time passed, the records became available separately. We have not done any of these combos recently. It can be fun to mix it up. If we did the exact same thing every time, WE would get bored. And we are doing this for ourselves first. We want to make the records WE want, as music dorks. Then it goes from there. But screw it, if it irritates you so much, maybe we'll do it for an entire pressing next time. Ha.

I think everyone else gets it and was excited. Or they waited. It all works out.

OWTH actually wanted us to do that again for FTB, but we simply had no time. And we were slammed already.

Profit margin on shirts is not huge when you do a small run and pay $5 to make them and sell them for $10, giving the band a cut, losing a bite to Credit Card fees . And especially not when you package them together with a record at a lower price. Dunno. Are you speaking in generalities? If so, then you are correct. If you make 5,000 of a shirt (getting a really good price break) and sell it for $20, then cash abounds. But that is a different scenario.

You can order whatever you want along with a pre-order and wait if you want to. Or not. Your call.

I like raisins. Do you like raisins too?

Sure. But does it ever freak you out that they look like little shriveled scrotums?

  3. Frank is correct. Our site is not.

Replay will fix it... AFTER we get all these dang records assembled and shipped. 6,000 pounds of records shipped in one week, already. More to go. NOT COUNTING mailorders. Whoa. (We needed the space, haha... some of these records are now sitting in CO, thanks Virgil.)

  4. I think this is the only place / time that any of the Defiance Ohio LPs have been classified by color. The band asked us early on that we not demarcate their records, as to avoid the idea that any copy was more valuable than the other. There is absolutely NO problem with that happening here on VC, but I thought I'd bring up this concept: there are a TON of color variations for all three of their LPs, but we have never posted the breakdowns at No Idea. And we didn't even count them. So this info will NEVER be available. It's not even possible. So... you are free to chase as many colors as you want, but no one will ever know the difference. Not even the label or band. Cool?

-- The only difference between these records and, say, "Axl" is that we counted the variations on those. Does that freak you out? (Oh, and the other difference is that they are different songs by different bands. Ha!)

  5. seriously.

wake me when the 45rpm half-speed master 2xLP hits

I actually want to do that some day with "Fuel for the Hate Game" because it's a pretty long LP. Both that album and "Axl" were recorded digitally, not analog, and at CD sampling rate... so the full fidelity is on the CD... there's not a higher sampling rate source to pull from. No 2" tapes. I think PLANES "Guts" was one of the only records recorded (partially) to analog tape that we put out in years.

  6. sweet i can't believe my order went through... thanks Var yer a sweety for letting me know!

if anyone bought one for me.. let me know.. i'll pay you for it... i wanna get a copy for eddieruckus...

i love this board.. everyone is so supportive.

All things FLOOD are settled. You are getting 2, we dropped one copy from Justin's order since you got one yourself.

  7. NOTE: anyone ordering 2 might get shafted on the extra copy. They are going fast. We WILL MAKE MORE, so don't get too worked up about it. And FLOOD ordered his own, so the other guy will only get charged for one.

-- The dude that ordered 3 that sells on ebay... what dude will NOT get 3, for reference. We know who you are, we're not stupid. >:( :'(

    -- Everyone else rules. :)

  8. Oh, and by the way, there is a technical reason why the first pressing of a record would sound better than a later pressing. No one will be able to tell the difference, but there it is. Audiophile THAT and smoke it!

presumably because the stamper plates used to press the records would wear down, yes?

anyway, have you listened to the 180g version? got an opinion?

There is that too, but the stampers usually only last for 1000 anyway and they make a new set. No, it's because the first stamper is actually one generation BEFORE the first mother. So the 2nd stamper is technically generation #3. Weird! I never knew that before!
