  1. Got my records in today! The prints are awesome, as I suspected. Listened to You'd Prefer An Astronaut and the only minor imperfections I've noticed is a small pop at the beginning of Stars and a few pops in the quiet parts of the last song, Songs of Farewell and Departure. Not anything to fret over, and perhaps a good cleaning would take care of it. Pretty blown away by the sound quality to be honest. Gonna spin Electra next, will report back!

So how was it?  I would really like to be able to get my hands on that one and Downward.  I remember reading somewhere about Earth Analog label selling these but I checked before and they were sold out.  Am I correct in understanding that there has been multiple "batches" of these that have become available?

  2. I second the notion for Scarlet's Walk to be pressed up on vinyl!

First pressing should be in a Gatefold Sleeve on see through "Scarlet Vinyl" with the Single Mix of "Taxi Ride" as a Bonus Track ;)

Amen!  You've given it some thought.  transparent scarlet would be nice, maybe some white swirl with it.  I have the transparent white swirl version of Dustin Kensrue's Please Come Home and it's probably the coolest looking record I have, visually-speaking.

  3. They need to do a new Alchemy Index pressing, I don't want to spend $300+ just for that album, also Tool and Coheed stuff would be cool.

    I'm right there with ya...

To spend anymore than $100 on any given album, you'd have to be either really dumb or really rich.  I just signed up on this forum today just so I could throw in my 2 cents about how ridiculous it is that the Smashing Pumpkins TAFH box is on average about $145.  I don't care if it is 5 slabs of wax, that's insane.  It killed me enough to pay almost $100 for the Mellon Collie reissue and the only reason I did that was because I had a $100 Amazon gift card.

  4. Snot - Get Some

    Korn - S/T

Temple of the Dog - S/T (would love to see this in the RSD 2014 list)

Soundgarden - Superunkown (originals are fetching way too much, this needs reissued badly)

36 Crazyfists - Bitterness the Star, A Snow Capped Romance and Rest Inside the Flames

NIN - The Fragile (hopefully this will be next in the reissue campaign)

Thrice - Alchemy Index (need to put this one back out there too)

ALL System of a Down albums

    The Cure - Wish

Also as others have already said that I noticed, 10,000 Days and Coheed's Good Apollo I for sure.

  5. I still have a side of 33 to play, but I can tell you I have not run into to any issues. All 5 discs are heavy and flat. They sounded great on both my Debut III and VPI. The box is heavy duty like MCIS (and surprisingly thinner). The sleeves are foil and glossy and the inner sleeves are a nice heavy stock. The records come in a regular white inner.

I think it's well worth the money because its always been a great release.

Thanks man.  I'm very happy there are no sound issues.  I'm definitely going to get it, it's just a question of when.  I'm going to wait until I can find it for at least under $100.  I appreciate the feedback.

  6. timsimmons:  this is the first time I have ever signed up to a forum (of any kind).  I signed up because I really want a review of this TAFH box and how it sounds on vinyl.  Much like alot of the people on here that I've been reading, I refuse to pay this price and plan to wait for at least a little bit of a drop.  I paid nearly $100 for the MCIS box and I, like many, was a little disappointed in disc 1 with the inner groove distortion on Zero and also To Forgive on the other side.  I'm curious if you are noticing any of the same sound quality issues.  Last you posted you had made it through 1979.
