Went to three stores across the weekend. Here's the haul:
The Idle Race
Bollywood Psychedelia
Spoon
Joy Division
Pink Panther
July
Yardbirds
Both Zombies records
Hamilton Leithauser, Link Wray, The Litter 7"
Space Project 7" set
Plus a crapload of normal records. Damn I'm broke.

Given the nature of the songs (two songs per celestial body), it lends itself to a 7" set. One 7" per celestial body, different colour and sleeve per 7".
It does from a conceptual and design standpoint. But I think the music lends itself to a longer format. Just when you're zoning out, you have to flip.
-
I would have bought the 12" if they'd had it. The music makes a lot more sense in that format.
Both are sold out on bullmoose now.
-
Yeah, the box is very flimsy. The top and bottom are already creased from doing nothing more than sitting on my table.
It's a bummer as I really like music and I think it's mastered well. Hopefully they will get back to me and replace the two that are the worst off. If the stuff weren't audible, I wouldn't care...
-
Anybody else pick up the Space Project 7" set? Great music but my set has a ton of issues. A few are warped. Several have these pits or dimples in the vinyl, one has an audible tick through most of the song. I emailed lefse so we'll see what happens, but I'm just wondering if this was across the run or just me?
-
Picked this up at Amoeba earlier in the week but side two had some nasty non-fill. Thankfully Carpark is replacing it. It's definitely not mastered as hot as what I've streamed through spotify, and sounds perhaps a little mushy, but please overall.

Just wanted to say that Famous Class handled my scratched 7" awesomely and they're sending me out a fresh one..
-
Received my copy today and unfortunately it came scratched. Sends my stylus a jumpin'. Ugh...

Apparently labels wanting to do run editions under /500 are being turned down in some parts of the world
how do you feel about this ?
Personally, I mean, wax producers can only handle so much work load and of course their business goes to the highest demand which in turn makes the plant more money...
I don't see why Kudos is complaining about something they have zero control over... Are they going to inspire more plants to open up? I mean come on... I could understand the frustration to a certain degree but maybe this'll be a learning curve for them

Smaller runs of anything (especially printed matter and vinyl) where setup is involved are labor intensive and expensive. What I'd hope is that we get runs greater than 500 out of it. For many of these releases I'm sure there's enough demand for 1000-2000. Why not please listeners with a little more availability?

Bullmoose makes me want to live Maine. Prime example of what a perfect independent store should be.
Maine can be great, especially Portland. But those winters can be looooong.
-
Go one page back. Bullmoose had to remove some releases at the request of the label before the official 3/20 announcement. It is still coming out and will be on the official list on Thursday.
Ah, thanks. I missed that.

I'll offer you $20ppd for the pink variant lung /2
Sorry, it only comes in clear with black splatter.
-
Grabbed the splatter as well! Nice.
-
Anybody know what happened to the Idle Race - Birthday Party release? It's been pulled off the list at Bull moose...
-
Man I want Hearts of Oak on vinyl. Nuts.
-
Well, i better decide which lung to sell to pay for this, because it's coming either way.
-
Already in line!
I never left. I've been living under the bins.
-
Super excited about this. Superchunk has been one of my favorite bands for years...
-
The Hollywood and Highland mall has the biggest selection - it is the corporate store and will have all new releases. It also has a separate section for clearance with a good selection. Parking is a bitch but it's worth it.
It's also near Amoeba. So go there too.
I wouldn't waste the time in Hot Topic. Amoeba is amazing and will eat your day from under your feet.
-
I'm pretty psyched about this too, especially if it's in the same league as STWHA.
-
I picked this up at my local record store for 16 dollars and received clear. This record is actually amazing unlike a lot of his most recent efforts...
I got the clear at my local store yesterday as well. Amazing record so far.

Has anybody heard if Topshelf will reprint TWiaBP's Whenever, if ever on vinyl? I'm dying for this...

When you arrive in Boston, you're handed a pair of khakis, duckboots and given a haircut. For such a politically liberal place, it's oddly conformist.
