Would this work as a receiver?
-
God I need this record. I'll have to wait until Christmas when I have money but the CD sounds amazing.
-
Just note that the one in your ebay link is a 220V model, so if you're in the US you'll need a step up transformer. Also, you'll most likely have to pay import tax, but I have no idea how high that is in US.
Your signature makes me cringe every time I see it

I think I remember reading somewhere that the ground wire is built into the turntable or something like that. Is this true?
-
These are made in Woburn, MA? That's like 5 minutes from my apartment. Maybe I'll swing by and try to convince them I need a free one, you know, to review.
Good luck
-
They said it would probably cost around $30 (the cueing lever)
-
Anyone like the new song, Sweeter Than Fiction. Its better than most of Red and sounds like it could have been off Speak Now.
-
Every single record I own has had a needle drag over it at one point or another, but I haven't played all of them from start to finish.
-
Did they ship the turntable priority or standard?
-
Ok, bought me a basic Orbit tonight. Hopefully it arrives by Christmas. I'm really looking forward to my first real quality turntable.
-
Does the speed seem to be 100% accurate
-
Damn, I want this but its so close to RSD
-
Theres 500 of the clears, right?
-
Ok, I know my setup besides the turntable is cheap. What if I went with these computer speakers instead of an amp and speakers separate. This is only if I don't find any speakers at a thrift shop first.

Alright. I'll look at my local salvation army and goodwill for amps and speakers. Are there any brands to stay away from altogether?
-
I don't have the money for a really expensive setup. I want to listen to the records while getting alright sound quality and without damaging them with a cheaper turntable.
-
-
Can you post a link of what kind of speaker wire I would need to connect the amp to the speakers
-
OK, so I need help figuring out what exactly I need to get my turntable I'm ordering set up and playing straight out of the box.
I'm not an audiophile and am on a lower budget. So yes I know more expensive stuff sounds better but I don't have the money. What do I need if I plan to get...
-Orbit Turntable
-Pyle PP999 PreAmp
-Amplifier
- Speakers

Do I need a pre amp if I get the amplifier or do I need both?
What kind of wires do I need to connect all the components together?
-
-
So if I buy an "amplifier" then I won't need a pre amp?
-
Does it come with cables to connect to a preamp?
OK, now a really stupid question.
I'm going to get the orbit, a cheap $20 preamp, and I'm not sure about the speakers. Do the speakers I buy have to have a volume knob on it?

In southern california in right around where Costa Mesa / Newport Beach meet my favorite place to go is Port of Sound Record Shoppe. Great mix of old and new vinyl and best prices in the area.
-
I would say it is. I wouldn't even consider a table without one.

Ok then. Not going with that.
Keeping in mind that I'm not an audiophile in any way will these two speakers function together as left and right speakers?
