A lot of indie bands use Gretsch kits. Gretsch Catalina Club are in the lower part of your price range. If you can spend 1200 just on shells, try to find Spaun drums. They are fucking beautiful and every set I've heard is just amazing. Listen to Codeseven--The Rescue for a sample of Spaun drums...

Cymbals: Paiste cymbals have the crispest, brightest sound. If you want a darker sounding crash, Zildjian K Customs are great.

For a snare, I'd probably buy a Pork Pie.

Florida's awesome new governor just gave away $2.4 billion in Federal money that would have gone to building a high speed rail system connecting Orlando to Tampa. On top of the jobs lost for the construction alone, the railway had enormous potential to re-invigorate the building up of the area between the two cities (esp. Lakeland, where I live). Obviously Republicans are okay with taking money as long as they are stealing it and it only benefits them and is not a "handout" that could benefit a lot of people. Because that would be Socialist.

Yeah, "I Wanna Riot" was from the OST...the Nirvana song is one of my favorites by them.

Side Note: Is anyone else concerned that the new Beavis & Butthead episodes are going to tarnish the legacy of the original? I've read that MTV is going to use like YouTube videos and other internet fodder in place of music videos. That sounds like a shit scenario to me. Thoughts?

I feel like a lot of these are bands that just lost it. For me, Alkaline Trio, Against Me!, Weezer, and a couple others are probably done making good records. And a band out of its prime is different than a band that just released a fluke bad album.

There's a band called Sounds Like Braille that is pretty rad - and has the best name for an instrumental band I can possibly imagine. Also, Friends of Dean Martinez are along the Don Cab line. There's a local band from Tampa called Auto! Automatic!! that should be thrown in this mix too.
