Would a technic d3 be considered a upgrade from a numark tt200 or just a different sound?

I love my turntable I've had it since I was in 7th grade 8 years ago. I saved up my lunch money and allowence to get it I love it. It has the torque power of the technic 1210 and sounds okay to me. I also don't understand how a better turntable makes it sound better I'm still new to this. I understand a belt drive separate the motor or something. -

So I have a Avr Harmon kardon receiver Dayton b652 speakers and a Bose subwoofer from my old computer speakers. Since now everything has worked great, till now the subwoofer doesn't work. So I decided to use my moms from the living room and that didn't work either. So I'm thinking it's the receiver what should I do and what's the cheapest way to do it? I'm thinking I need a new receiver or maybe get some speakers that have some bass,or is this something maybe wrong inside the receiver that would be cheaper. I tried listening to my records without my sub and man they sound so weak
