Some people have gotten David Lynch's The Big Dream for $9.99 at some stores. It was full price at my store. How do I get it for the sale price and 50% off then?

Disappointed about the bonus stuff. This would have been a great opportunity to release unplugged.

Also, I really hope they do 12" box set or something. They keep releasing exclusive 12" to the oasis store, I'd love the opportunity to buy them without buying he big box set.

 

Me too. Whatever, Supersonic, and now Some Might Say 12" singles have all been getting reissues, hopefully they did all of them and put them in a box. I'd love to get all the b-sides on vinyl.

 

did the remastered definitely maybe sound much better than the last reissues? 

It was smoother, had more bass, but was a bit louder (less dynamics). It was better than the 2009 reissues IMO, but maybe not as good as the originals. If you have the 2009 ones, it may not be worth it. 

Amazon had Definitely Maybe for $29 a month or so before release so I'd expect the same for this.

Does Mondo notify you after you send for a replacement? My package arrived in Texas and I don't know whether I should be expecting a tracking number or not.

Just got through side A and B of JP, and it's full of hiss & pops. I know I reported earlier that Side A sounded good when I listened to it yesterday and I don't know how it didn't get my attention because at times it gets pretty bad. Mostly at the beginning of the first track, then around the middle & end as far as pops go. The hissing goes from moderate to heavy throughout the entire thing. Gave it a gentle cleaning too and it's not any better.

 

It's not warped but there's quite a few scuffs all over both sides but side A is by far the worst. Spinning side C right now and it's totally different; absolutely no hiss, just some slight popping here & there that's totally fine.

 

I'd contact Mondo for a replacement but they're out, and I don't want to lose having one of these. But it sucks having dropped $42 on a soundtrack with a messy first half!

Under a bright light, my copy looked like it was slid across the factory floor or something. Good thing I'm getting shipped a replacement.

Pretty sure the cover is the only thing that glows in the dark. Doesn't say anything about the record glowing:

Someone on Discogs said the last two tracks of Jurassic Park are out of order on Mondo's version. They are labeled correctly, but the credits song plays before the other one. Can anyone confirm this? I'm not around my turntable right now. Pretty silly if true.

I've never really paid much attention to Jack White or The White Stripes. Seems like there's endless amount of content out there, where would be a good place to start?

This is going to be a long post. Bear with me. 

 

Alright, Parlophone and Capitol (as far as I know) both distribute the same artists, but each are based in a different territory (Parlophone = EU/UK and Capitol = US). From my research, I've found that Capitol Records does not have the ability to cut AAA (analog-analog-analog) vinyl. What could be AAA releases become AAD (analog-analog-digital) because they use high quality digital files, allegedly. 

 

My goal is this: to end up with the best sounding releases from Capitol/Parlophone artists, analog when applicable.

 

In theory, albums such as OK Computer, which was recorded entirely in analog, are only available in their analog glory on the Parlophone label. The original pressings are, at least. 

 

In 2008, Capitol had a reissue campaign called "From The Vaults." If you are in the US and you have purchased any title from 2008 on from Radiohead (before In Rainbows), Coldplay (before Mylo Xyloto), The Verve's Urban Hymns, and many others, you probably have one of these releases. Branded as "audiophile," these 180-gram "limited" (repressed continuously) releases are, if my research is correct, digital.

 

Now, I could stop there. I could just buy these "From The Vaults" reissues and call it a day. Most of them (minus A Rush Of Blood To The Head and X&Y) have gotten good reviews. But after obtaining a UK import of OK Computer which I compared to my Capitol one, I can't do it. The Parlophone blows the Capitol one away.

 

Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding these releases. The strangest thing is that all of the titles that are in the "From The Vaults" series are still in print on Parlophone in the UK. What does this mean? Does it mean they are the Capitol versions branded under Parlophone? Does it mean that they went back to the analog masters and reissued it from there? Have they been continuously pressed for 15+ years in the UK? Only the oracle knows.

 

To add even more confusion to this whole ordeal, stores in my area have been stocking Parlophone editions of Coldplay's albums in stores. Why? Sites like ShopRadioCast have listed some releases under the Parlophone label for some reason. Technically, they should be using the Capitol release, or maybe it's a typo.

I wonder when they ship out packages, do they have a separate pile of variant copies or are they all mixed together? I can't imagine them going, "hey, this guy ordered four copies, let's give him all black ones!"

I don't think I've ever seen legit original copies of Piper or Saucerful in my area.

If LPs are gonna go up in cost then the least they could do is house the records in better inner sleeves. I don't mind using some my MoFi sleeves for a $15 LP but for something that cost almost $40 its a bit lame.

I agree! Poly-lined inner sleeves at the very least.

Got an email with tracking info 5 days ago. And tracking number still says tracking info unavailable...

Copy the number and paste it into google to go straight to the USPS tracking site. Mondo's tracking doesn't work.

i really wish they'd make a regular version with no bells and whistles. call it the "audiophile edition" i don't really care. 

Same here... Yeah, the gimmicks are cool for five minutes or so, but at the end of the day, I just want to listen to the music.
