  1. I bought The Doors mono press for $25 which is fine but the Daniel Ash was $50! By far the most I have ever paid for a record but it was the top spot on my RSD list so felt I had to get it. I haven't opened it yet and was wondering if anyone knows if it will be significantly cheaper elsewhere?
  2. Well it was my first RSD experience and I got there late(9:55). The store here was packed but everyone was fairly cordial. Unfortunately I could only find 2 of the 9 items I was looking for and one was double the price I thought it would be. Daniel Ash - Stripped ($50) and The Doors - Strange Days in mono ($25) Still a fun experience overall but I will arrive much earlier next year!
  3. Both copies I have are US pressings and have pretty bad sibilance through the whole record.
  4. I have a soft spot for Heart's 1985 self titled album (don't judge) and picked up a copy at a garage sale. The sibilance was terrible and recently decided to buy a mint copy of discogs. The mint copy has is just as bad, terrible really. Cart is aligned etc and I don't have this trouble on other records. So…before I search for another copy, does anyone know here if they are all like that? Never heard of a pressing that had this kind of problem but I find it odd that both my copies sound the same.
  5. Started my vinyl journey about 6 months ago when I had my sl-1700mkii completely reconditioned. I then purchased a AT95e cart to replace the old factory unit. It was a huge improvement but I still heard the dreaded inner groove distortion. I've tried various protractors and different alignment settings and the problem still persists. Last month while garage sale-ing I came across a beautiful used Pioneer PL-530. i can't tell what cart is installed but it is not factory, nor is the headshell. i took it to the same tech and had it completely gone through and reconditioned. He did not make any adjustments on the cart. Got the unit home and got out my protractors but before I started adjusting I thought I'd hear how it sounded as is. Been playing all sorts of stuff and I'll be damned if it doesn't sound just great..noticeably better than my Technics set up and I really can't even notice any inner groove distortion. HOWEVER... According to my protractors, the cart is WAY off, not even close in fact, and very angled to the right(looking down on headshell) So…the big question. Do I adjust per the protractor in hopes that the good will even get better or do I leave it as is?
  6. Been thinking about that for a while. This might be the score to justify the purchase.
  7. I bought a small collection this weekend of 70's rock (Zep, AC/DC,Floyd etc) and most of the records have a slight center warp from being stored improperly. The records are beautiful and they play great but before I sell some of my duplicates I'm wondering how a warp like this affects the value/grade? I have had some edge warped records in the past and they typically don't track but these all track perfectly.
  8. Did some garage sale-ing this weekend and wound up with two more turntables, a JVC QL-Y5F and a Pioneer PL-530. The JVC needs some work and the Pioneer seems to be working perfect. I got them both cheaply so my plan was to get them working and A/B them with my Technics 1700mkii. Just wondering if either of those is an obvious choice over the 1700 before I get into the repairs.
  9. I picked up a JVC QL-Y5F this weekend. Pretty good shape overall but the exposed portion of the plinth has a fair amount of dirt/grime. What is the best type of cleaning solution to use on this that won't damage the finish or the buttons?
  10. Resurrection Band - Colours Bought it new in 1981 My recent resurgence in vinyl however started last June with Radiohead - OK Computer.
  11. Damn it, thought one order was enough. Second order: Gone Girl: $13.16 Beach House - Bloom: $12.29 Prodigy - The Fat of the Land $13.55 Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine $7.64
  12. Thanks! Picked up a few on my must have list: Interpol: Turn on the Bright Lights $13 Iron Maiden: Powerslave $11.41 The Cure Disintegration $14
  13. Tried that and it looked terrible I'd even be open to buying a replica and put a new label on it.
  14. Has anyone here made a homemade gold record? Last year we did our family portrait in the style of Anton Corbijn's Echo & the Bunnymen S/T cover and I want to hang it on the wall in a framed gold record presentation.
  15. Picked up a copy of Hellbilly Deluxe (orange version)in my local HT store yesterday, got home and it was warped. Another nearby store had one and held it for me. Got it home and it is also warped. Before I keep searching, does anyone know if this is a problem with this pressing?
  16. Holy crap this album is great. Needs a limited edition red w/black splatter vinyl!
  17. Yep, very familiar with discogs, I've had my own page for a while. I have a couple of promo stamped copies in my collection but this one was the first one that had some differences from the regular release. My question was whether or not this was the norm. Thanks!
  18. I am much more a listener than a collector so I don't really care if I get a "promo" stamped copy if it's in great shape and sounds good. However I recently bought a Sigue Sigue Sputnik promo record and it is different than the regular release. Not a huge difference but some of the song intros I am used to are not there. Wondering if this is fairly normal for promo copies. If so I will avoid them.
  19. Does this let you order from the UK site if you are in the US?
  20. According to my email, the OWS versions are not avaialbe in North America but I am still able to select US shipping. Does this mean they will just cancel the order?
  21. So I got an email stating my items have shipped. Before I get excited, has anyone gotten a cancellation after this email?
