Hate to say this but this pressing does not sound very good at all. Really noisy and a little bit flat overall. Pretty lame. My A/B labels were switched as well.

Just listened and same...at least with labels. It's a complete mispress though...if you look in the run out groove the B side with the A label Has A in the runout groove and everything.  They fucked the pressing. My guess is every single album is this way.

I don't have the noise issues thankfully.

  2. I like all the wide range of opinions, but it's a funny reminder how subjective music is.  I haven't listened to this album digitally at all, only vinyl.

Side 3...which is Deserter and Along the Edges...I LOVED! Deserter got me hooked on this album.  I like electronics though.  It's not as good as Key, but I think it's really solid.  Makes me chuckle that Deserter were a couple of people's least favorite songs.

  3. I'm local in Portland... Crossroads is one of my favorites if you like to dig deep. Almost all used and tricky layout because there are like 30 different vendors under one roof.

Jackpot and Music Millenium are both pretty good especially if you like newer stuff.  Occasionally they can have some good used gems.

Mississippi Records is an institution, but their selection hasn't been great lately. Clinton Street Record and stereo is a little out of the way in SE, but has some pretty good Soul/Funk.  I've read good things about Beacon Sound, but have never been there.

The best record stores in Portland are the following three (in no particular order):  Exiled Records, Little Axe Records and Musique Plastique.  Those 3 and Crossroads are my favorites.

First time streaming & not a whole lot has stood out to me so far.  Most songs follow the same formula & gets tiring by the end.  I did really like Iron Glacier though.  Wish they would have expanded on the sound at the end of that song.

But, I'm sure I'll grow to like it as a whole more upon repeated listens (at least I hope).

I agree about Iron Glacier.  That is a stand out track, but I also agree that it never got to where I was hoping it would.

yeah it's definitely FAR better than RF, which came off very flat-sounding imo. this has some cool riffs, and has a much more punchier feel as a whole.

I'm on the opposite end. I loved RF.

I've listened to the new album twice, once with headphones.  I think it's solid, but I'm going to have to listen to it more.  Pressing quality is good.  Progression of the album I like.  Some songs really stand out to me, but there are a few I find really boring right now.

Just got back.  Overall pretty solid.

Apocalypse wasnt powerful enough and never felt that threatening, but still was decent.

I don't think the characters need a reboot, just the franchise. X men just isn't on the same caliber as some other marvel movies (civil war,  first avengers) but in my opinion it has the potential to be better then any of them.

This series seems pretty wrapped up though,  not to much else to get into with classic X-men without getting into space stuff (which I'm all for).

Interested to see where they go with it next though,  these 3 were bounds ahead of the last three haha.

I feel like to do Apocalypse "right" it would take a trilogy of its own.  I'm not sure how they could have made him more powerful in one movie.  One of the few characters stronger than him was the one who had to "destroy" him.

Age of Apocolypse really could have been told over several movies, since we got one, I'm pleased with the result.

yeah....  that's a dude who answered my Facebook post.  Still not totally satisfied haha, but this will do.  Check your PMs, Adam.

I don't spend much time lurking or posting on this message board and this is one of the few threads I even read.

But, I do get an email notification when I get a PM and when I get on the site, I can see the notification on my phone that I have a new message.

I don't need a 3rd, public reminder, in the thread itself to "check my pm's"

Maybe it would be wise to heed Randy Savage's advice.  The world doesn't exist to answer PM's, e-mails, and Facebook messages.

  8. I've been hunting original BN for a while now.  Most of my focus is Grant Green.

I started on the MM reissues...and I can confirm what was said earlier.  The MM does sound really, really good, but my OG monos blew them out of the water.  It really does feel like you are in the room.  It was no contest for me.

To be honest, if you are into jazz and want it on vinyl and appreciate sonics...well then you are going to have to shell out $$.  You can find good deals online occasionally for between 50-115.  Many of these records are conservatively graded.

For me, it's quality over quantity now.  I'll pay 100 bucks for an OG mono in VG condition...then 3 copies of the MM reissues.

  9. Spiderland is amazing, and the documentary with the new pressing is well worth watching. Gives you an even bigger appreciation for the band. June of 44 "Engine Takes To The Water" and Rodan "Rusty" are the 2 most Spiderland-like albums I can think of to recommend if someone is looking for a similar feel and both were also T&G related releases

Nice, definitely adding these to my want list.
