  1. Does anyone know who is pressing the wax? I am interested in the box set, but not if it's gonna be pressed like it seems the project has been handled so far!
  2. So, like 99% of the folks here, shit's in an Expedit (7" boxed up and appx 1200 LPs in my storage space for security - I don't play those, just collected): CD's: By the way - I have a lot of used record sleeve covers, ranging between 2 mil and 5 mil. I don't need 'em, so if someone here does PM me. Taken.
  3. You may have already bought it or figured this out - but the deal with IKEA A/V furniture is how much weight it can hold. Obviously you need to know how large a screen can fit, but I've heard of folks breaking the shelf cos it was over the weight limit. IKEA is shit. (but affordable!)
  4. My gawd. I can't resist posting on this thread. Kinda funny that IKEA really nailed the record collector market with that damn shelf! When I worked at the South Philly IKEA I must have recommended that to at least 100 people. I kept telling the art department to put one on display with 12" covers in it and that I'd even supply the covers... did they do it? Of course not. Fuckers.
  5. Tom Waits: Nighthawks at the Diner, gatefold, promo white label Tom Waits: Blue Valentine, gatefold, promo white label Tom Waits: Mule Variations, sealed Wire: Pink Flag, first pressing on Harvest Lee Morgan: Leeway, Analogue Productions 45 RPM 2xLP 180g reissue series Kenny Burrell: Midnight Blue, Analogue Productions 45 RPM 2xLP 180g reissue series Dexter Gordon: Dexter Calling, Analogue Productions 45 RPM 2xLP 180g reissue series David Bowie: Sound + Vision, Ryko 6xLP Box (clear vinyl!) Beastie Boys: Paul's Boutique, first pressing 8 panel gatefold sealed (it's been a good run of quality finds here in Philly!)
  6. Man, you said it. Ethics have gone out the fucking window. From the majors jumping back on the wagon that they tried to burn with the advent of the compact disc to the twats on Ebay selling "Mint+" records that have been played (wha..??). I honestly blame the diminished understanding and knowledge of collecting on Ebay, cos anyone can hide behind an avatar and claim they are selling quality product - and it certainly doesn't end with the sellers. Kids who buy "rare" LPs at unrealistic prices (e.g. The Ex, "History is What's Happening" w/o insert for $80+ ?!!) aren't just wasting their money, they are artificially inflating the values of these records. And that trickles down to brick and mortar shops - especially since so many are selling on Ebay now too. So now you have a situation where the folks selling don't go by Goldmine standards, they use bullshit criteria based on what ONE person got thru the bidding process. PISSES ME OFF (if you can't tell). That being said, I have heaps of respect for artists on major labels who demand that their recordings be made available on vinyl, complete with great packaging and mastering at legendary places like RTI and Classic (Neil Young, Wilco, Mission of Burma). Funny thing is, it's the digital age of music that has destroyed the music industry - and I think they know that one way to get people to buy music again is to offer it in the best format ever created: wax. Anyway, kids these days should be required to labor for hours in record shops, going thru the thousands of 99¢ LPs in the bins on the floor so they understand how hard record collecting is, sneezing cos of the dust and mildew - and just how fucking exciting it is to find that highly-sought first-pressing that somehow got tucked away behind all those Men at Work and Falco records!! Man I go on tirades... this got my blood pressure up! Latah!
  7. I am looking for any and all things Ex related. If anybody has anything they are looking to sell from this amazing Dutch band, please PM me/reply to this topic. Especially looking for the 7" subscription series. Thanks heaps! Mattstrike
  8. Avail or Cloak/Dagger search. Can't. Believe. I've. Never. Seen. This. Before!!! Made my 2008 (well, in record buying terms).
  9. Everything being labeled an "audiophile pressing" cos suddenly that's some kind of marketing scheme. Twats.
  10. Tuesday AM - does that mean 12 AM or some other time before Tuesday noon?
  11. I love Xmas records/recordings (and yet I can't stand the holiday itself). I'd prolly buy it too - especially if you cover "Santa's Pussy" by The Frogs! (It's the most excellent free-association-anal-pleasure-n'-cocaine song ever written)
