  1. Thats just the way that I see poker. It doesn't help me one bit when I sit at a table with people that aren't thinking about the game the same way that I am. I tend to do better taking a grand to a casino and playing a high limit game with other players that think a little more similar than I do. It's always fun and a challenge for me personally to play with people that don't think like me and to alter my game to a different thought process and try to out play them.

I have studied poker for wayyyyy too long.

I'm curious about the math behind multiplying the amount of cards in [suit] by four to get a percentage. If there's nine cards your interested in, dividing 9 by (52 subtracted by how many cards are not in the deck) should give you the percentage... And then there's the possibility of other people having [suit] in their hand. Not doubting your methods, as you've been playing this for much longer than I have, but in order for 9/x to equal 36%, there needs to be 25 cards -- less than half of the deck -- to draw from, assuming no other players have [suit].

  2. My roommate and I make $9/hr and we can both make ends meet, but that's mainly because our parents help with some of our other stuff (car insurance for me, car insurance and cellphone bill for her). We were lucky to find a studio apartment for <$600/mo, water included. We probably work a combined slightly more than 40 hrs a week, and it's rough. We're very lucky to have parents who can help us out; we'd probably be losing money if we had to pay our car insurance.
