  1. 'macabre eternal' is a great album but i would rate 'severed survival' as my favourite of theirs, way above 'mental funeral'
  2. yeah, i dig it and want it but $12 shipping for the sake of one 7" to the UK just deflates me completely
  3. if you live in the UK, these are £8.99 each with free p&p from hmv.co.uk in my experience, hmv.co.uk is reliable but they sometimes alter their prices without warning so get them quick
  4. on pre-order now from throne records and, as the email to me from throne suggested, buy 2 copies and split shipping with someone anyone in the UK want to go halves with me on that offer? http://www.thronerecords.net/MAIN.htm
  5. this is great news- richspeedowax, i shall be checking out your store- any idea on price?
  6. The Winchell Riots are a four-piece from Oxford who take their name from a chapter in a Philip Roth novel, The Plot Against America.. They're a little bit emo, a little bit Elbow, and a little bit Editors. They've been compared to Mew and Muse, Death Cab for Cutie and Bjork, the latter probably based on McMinn's ability to soar angelically when he sings and they've played gigs as support to everyone from Glasvegas to the Streets, iLikeTrains to Kraftwerk/Neu! founder Michael Rother. The band have recently been recording a single, Kandahar Road, with Dan Austin, who has worked with Massive Attack, Doves and Cherry Ghost, and who brings an epic grandeur, a majestic melancholy, to their sound. The above biog was quoted from 'The Guardian' newspaper but I'm here to be more personal and say that The Winchell Riots are a fantastic British band who are a bit more 'tear in the eye' than 'blood in the pit'- I reckon we all need to have a bit of music that wears its heart on its sleeve on our behalf once in a while- and this gorgeous 10" Ep fits the bill perfectly. It's a debut release, on their own label, and a second one is planned for the new year- give it a try if it appeals and maybe it'll be the first of many. I'm not too sure about the cost of shipping overseas but I'm sure an email to [email protected] would find out. http://www.myspace.com/thewinchellriots http://www.thewinchellriots.co.uk/
  7. ^^^ they both look really great- still glad i got my 3 on black though- but you've given me pause for thought...
  8. ordered all 3 on black- completes my relapse release desires
  9. thank god you posted that- i had forgotten that you don't approve of my musical tastes but now i'm up to speed again- must remember not to listen to 'shit that is garbage'- silly me
  10. seems it's only a single LP and not 180grms but still a gatefold sleeve maybe a double vinyl, heavyweight version is coming?
  11. up on relapse ebay store- red, green, gold, black colour schemes- not up on relapse shop yet as far as i can make out...
  12. oh, to have a record store (other than HMV, which doesn't stock vinyl) in my city!
  13. i got clear from southern uk, but i wasn't bothered either! thought it would come with a download card though love the thick cardboard sleeve also hope they come and play the uk soon
  14. just ordered my clear from here also- didn't know southern lord had this UK distro
  15. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8629934.stm i didn't make it out to a record store, mainly coz there isn't one in oxford, so i didn't have the chance not to buy this but it puts records in the news!
  16. cobra commander puppy-kick pic and try saying that when you're three sheets to the wind
  17. just got mine today and really couldn't be happier- just the smallest crease on the corner of the spine- i've had a lot worse on supposedly non-damaged records- and the packaging was very sturdy- very impressed all round
  18. i got a reply from the helpful staff at relapse and they said that their shipping charges were out of date and so, rather than change that, they just add the difference onto the price of the disc itself and im not bent out of shape about the price, just surprised at the size of it but, if you are correct, then i may well pick a copy up along with, hopefully, a tour print when i see them in london instead of a t-shirt- can't have it all!
  19. that's a great write up with some interesting photos- as a consumer only, i don't really think about how these 'kitchen table' businesses operate and seeing you do yours makes me think it's so easy that i should do my own! joke! well, maybe i will do my own...
  20. well, as many overseas people on this board have said previously, we expect to pay more for our american vinyl and just have to swallow the cost whole but this seems like a bizzare way to structure the price of shipping overseas and feels like a kick in the guts! i've emailed relapse though, so should get some kind of answer- hopefully before they have sold out!
  21. yeah, i ought to do that- just thought someone here might have a really obvious answer to it- and i wanted express my outrage!
  22. does anyone know why the cost is $22 for US customers and $32 for overseas but then, for overseas, you have to add ANOTHER $7 for shipping? what is the $10 difference in price if not for shipping costs? ??? or have i misunderstood something here?
