  1. Another fantastically important and thought provoking thread from me... But alas.... Anyone had any luck removing/transferring stickers from picture disk sleeves? I have a couple with splits in the seams that I'd like to replace but I'd like to move the stickers etc over too if possible. Some I can probably peel right off but some are the security type hologram ones made to be tamper proof so they'd come apart which makes things a little more of a pain. Is steam a viable option with plastics involved
  2. Yes! But I'm in the UK so postage might be more than is ideal for you... welcome to PM me if you'd like it though
  3. Might be able to help you- my store had loads and I have to go back in since a lot of things I wanted were part of the delayed shipments. (Would be from the UK though!!)
  4. 5. Not quite gourmet steak... but McDonalds have definitely made some higher quality options available. Why shouldn't Crosley take note of criticism and try to make some minor improvements
  6. pointless from the point of view of those who already own the better players... but for crosley and their interests having what seems like a significantly better option within their brand is, I assume, an attempt to get people to upgrade within the brand... or at least to get some nicer comments online. I absolutely agree- they have their place as a player for those dipping their toe in the water but it's definitely nice to see what could be a decent player in the case that people like so much.
  7. haha Probably... they get such a thrashing online that as you say anyone who does an ounce of research is almost automatically a lost sale now.
  8. Only reason I can think of is Uni students or people who are just generally pressed for space
  9. Posted this in the wrong thread so just moving it here: Since most of you seem to be in the states is there anything I can help anyone out with from the UK? I'm heading in without anything on my list for myself at the moment so I'm happy to pick up requests I'm already looking to pick up the following for someone else (but any others I'll gladly look out for) Brand New - Deja Entendu Pianos Become the Teeth - Close Every Time I Die - Salem Against Me! - Osama Bin Laden As The Crucified Christ Cost plus p+p I know OP is offering the same 'service' (haha) but figure if there are duplicate requests and 1p/p limits I can help out. PM me
  10. Sides I believe- I'd assume it'll be pretty much the same, looks wise, as the current keepsake model. Stitch detail is kinda nice though.
  11. True, but I think the target market for crosleys are those who generally don't know all that much about what to buy in what combinations and at the end of the day probably don't have the money to invest in it all. It's a lot of research rather than just picking up a box and being able to listen to records in some capacity immediately. Having something .. I hesitate to say 'in-between' as it really probably doesn't come close to even the low end 'real turntables'... quality wise is probably a good move in terms of those casual listeners getting somewhat better sound while taking slightly better care of their records. It likely will just be a 'higher end' urban outfitters thing but as I started by saying, at least it seems to be a step in the right direction... plus.. figuring out what all those supposedly better features are and how they improve things might just lead those casual listeners to look into upgrading. It's an alternative to the horrid ceramic situations at the very least haha
  12. Not at all trying to promote them- they're shitty for all intents and purposes but the fact that they seem to be addressing a couple of the main gripes is at least vaguely interesting.
  13. So... Crosley's seem to be below the bottom rung of the ladder when it comes to turntables/record players whatever you want to label these as. But I just read about the upcoming keepsake deluxe model and with specific reference to an audio technica moving magnetic cartridge and adjustment allowing the user to tailor the 'tonearm weight and anti-skating compensation' it seems they may at least be making moves in the right direction. Not sure it quite warrants the "you have all the flexibility of a high end audiophile player" comment in the description but it's enough to peak some interest at least. And perhaps will work well enough to be the alternative recommendation for those who want a crosley for looks/portability/all-in-one factor but are at least somewhat aware of the pitfalls. http://junostatic.com/products/crosley-cr6250a-keepsake-deluxe-portable-usb-turntable/549303-01/ Thoughts?
  14. RSD Paul Mccartney is a re-release of The Family Way soundtrack according to a rolling stone article about some RSD15 releases Record store near me also just posted about having some Hope for the Future white labels too
  15. I don't collect lunches .... though there are so many variants....chicken with mayo splatter? or half ham half mustard!? New hobby!
  16. Reading this along with your signature gif really made it so much better! haha
  17. Which is why the thread was about opinions.... You have all been collecting longer than I have so I was curious as to what you put first when buying. I wasn't expecting one solid answer, I was hoping to learn from many what I should be looking out for or considering when I buy. I mean... anyone can assume having fucking glitter particles in a record probably isn't going to do wonders for the sound quality but I didn't know until about 10 minutes ago that being a first press may mean better sound quality. So... even just for that I've gained something from peoples responses to this thread. I'll gladly hold my hands up and apologise if this thread is something you see so frequently it's irritating... but odds are if it was that bad jhulud would have locked it when he dropped in for a visit.
  18. Apparently... though I am questioning his stealthiness what with the icon advertising his theivery.
  19. Thanks Will I feel like I may be beheaded by a flying one direction record at any moment
  20. I'm sorry.. were you born knowing all there is to know about records?
  21. As I let on a minute ago I was a bit naive about the sound quality being maintained through all presses- new things to consider! haha A bit of both I guess-obviously there are colourways that are more appealing or even just match the cover better (I'm veering into OCD territory now)
  22. Thanks, I hadn't even considered how the sound quality might change between pressings. I'm not particularly aiming to make money collecting but I am aware that there are better pressings to own so I wanted to try and make good investments - particularly in instances where I'm paying higher prices to begin with to get the things that sold out before I started collecting.
