  1. Meh- I'm done with ATO after my experience with their limited MTU release.

Mine arrived quite messed up; worst damage of any record I've gotten mailed. ATO wasn't very willing to make it right- they don't keep limited release extras aside to replace damaged copies, their UPS smart packet shipping doesnt have insurance and 10% refund compensation they hesitantly offered after a few emails to them seemed half hearted.

I'm sure most records make it fine, but if you really want the limited version that will sell out, keep this in mind

This album is my first go around with these guys after hearing so much buzz about them and I gotta say this stuff is awesome. Not looking forward to going down the rabbit hole with the amount of variants, etc. they have though. Luckily I never double dip so hopefully it all goes easy on my wallet. Really good stuff though, wish I caught them when they came around recently.

With all that said, can anyone recommend one or two of their favorite records? There's so much stuff it's a bit overwhelming.

Go back to their first album and start there- if your first impression doesnt get reinforced by the time you reach Oddiments and Float Along Fill Your Lungs, then you can stop listening, rest assured you don't need every King Gizzard album  in your collection

  3. Second album wasn't as good as the first, but I'll still give this a shot.

New track with interesting 80s computer animation

  4. You can probably get new versions of these for $20-30 from another label, but they wont have the same production quality or be pressed at 45rpm

Analogue sounds have always cost more, but at least you know you're getting the best listen for your money.

Yes, no more spending here either- I need to start locking my phone away for a week around black friday...

I think the only other album this year with microtonal instruments was Sketches (the track D-Day if I’m recalling correctly).

MotU credits on the back of the jacket listed the instruments of each band member on the LP down to the brand and model, pretty cool stuff.

Also Shuga have a pressing on clear wax supposedly shipping mid-December

The shuga one has a slip Matt and poster, interestingly

Bought my second pressing from Rhubarb Records. Guys do a bang up job on packaging and have promised an embossed, reflective front cover and gatefold with hidden artwork and UV light effects, a poster, and a uniquely colored LP for each owner.

Looked at that too- i balked at the shipping price though. maybe if those porn crumpets records weren't sold out..

So it's unclear to me if this is two one-sided LPs at 33rpm or the first label to cut the album at 45rpm over two discs?

And before anyone complains about the lack of colours, I'm almost 100% certain that you can only cut lathes on the "base" PVC types: black, clear and white (not sure I've seen a lathe-cut on white wax personally).

EDIT: Since this is a lathe pressing, and shipping was 3 bucks, I had to buy one.  Given the timing of when they went live with this, I wonder whether or not a disproportionate amount of collectors in Japan, Australia, Russia and Europe will nab this before a lot of NA folk do.

Lathe cuts are always one-sided, right? I'd probably go for a 45rpm version too.

Slow evening- only 2 new variants announced
