  1. I'm thinking of going...don't know how much it is to fly from CA. If it isn't too ridiculous, I'm there.
  2. I was drunk and didn't realize it was real. It was kind of freaky, didn't last very long.
  3. So true! This was a good song to pick for a "single" too. Yup, that's the one that stood out to me the most. But I think most of them could be singles, they're just that awesome.
  4. The whole record is this amazing, I hope it gets them all the attention they deserve.
  5. Yea, I don't really understand what Bush being out of office has to do with their writing process. It's not like the world is perfect now, and there is nothing to write about.
  6. If you're going to talk about feeding the earth, think about how much grain and water it takes to feed cows. It takes 5000 gallons of water to raise one pound of beef. One acre of land produces 165 pounds of beef, but could also produce 20,000 potatoes.
  7. I'm thinking of going tomorrow...but I hate going to shows alone.
  8. When Loved Ones played there was a bunch of people that were sitting, and only 5 people knew who they were (including me). well that's awkward. But FP shows in LA are always good, they have a lot of fans here.
  9. William Elliot Whitmore. But not at the Riverside thing, hopefully they'll get a decent amount of time.
  10. Yea I know Mondo, he's a cool guy. I'm going to hit him up once I get someone figured out, thanks
  11. Really? What program is she in?
  12. Yeah, it's any station, college..local. So it shouldn't be too hard. I'm sure my whole class will go for KROQ, but they fucking suck anyways.
  13. Yea I'm actually really excited about it. I go to Musicians Institute so all my classes kind of have projects that are cool. But the downside is they are all basically targeted for me to find some Myspace band that is marketable and make them famous. My teachers mindset is more geared toward the major label goal, when mine isn't really. But I've learned a lot from them, and plus I get to intern at SideOne so whatever, it's awesome. I also just emailed Erik Petersen, so I'm hoping he might be down for something like this.
  14. I think that'd be cool, pretty useful for bands...and it sounds like it would be different enough from Myspace to draw people over.
  15. Yeah, I'm having a hard time with this actually. Most of the music I like isn't necessarily 'marketable' but I don't really give a shit.
  16. So I have to do this project for school, find an unsigned artist in LA with a CD...help them promote it. Try and get it played on some local radio stations, some reviews, promotional stuff like that. Problem is ...there are a lot of shitty bands in Los Angeles. I'm sure there are a lot of good ones too, but they're pretty hard to find. Does anyone know of any good unsigned bands in the LA area? I wouldn't even care actually if they weren't in the area ..just CA specifically.
  17. thanks for the tip, but that's not really our kind of thing. we try to book everything at house shows and collectives run by kids. "proper" venues and promoters have their place and all, but one of the best parts of tour, for me, is meeting all of the people that do and care about the same kinds of things as us. the musician's guide is more of a business -and less of a friendship -kind of publication. and if that sounds judgmental at all, it's not meant to be. different strokes! : ) It's cool. I'm sure you know of book your own fucking life, that sounds like more of your thing. Everyone I know has had good experiences with that site.
  18. You should check out the musicians guide to touring and promotion...I think that's the name. It's a magazine billboard puts out every 6 months, has an updated list of venues in every city in the US. It's pretty handy. Also has labels, radio stations, stuff like that.
