  1. After raising the issue with a friend, I am curious as to how people organize their LPs. I'm assuming that most people store them vertically on a shelf or in a box, with the spines showing. (If you don't, then this isn't as relevant). Anyway, the main point of interest I have is whether you organize them alphabetically from right to left or from left to right? In other words, if you have your LPs on a shelf, is your "A" section at the right end (i.e. you go from right to left) or is it at the left end (i.e. you go from left to right)? (I am assuming here that everyone organises alphabetically, but have included poll options for other people who employ a different technique). I go from right to left, based on the logic that if you look at LPs on their side & you stand and read them, reading from right to left is like reading a book, since you naturally read "downwards". If they are arranged left to right then you have to read "upwards" to go from A to Z, which seems ludicrous to me. Sorry for nerding out, but please let me know your thoughts on this highly important topic.
  2. Pitchfork 7" on Nemesis Records on color vinyl. If anyone has this on color vinyl, or knows anyone who has it, get in touch. I will pay big.
  3. Dude - i appreciate the sentiment. But I would insist on paying. The problem when you try to give something back & do something for nothing is that some people take advantage. It's cool that you're not looking to make big money, but at the same time you shouldn't LOSE money. At least let people give you something if they want to. There's nothing wrong with that.
  4. The link didn't work. But I think you mean this: The band is JUSTICE. This was a limited cover out of 100 for a show back in 2004.
  5. I started a record collecting blog a few months ago. I just write about records I get in the mail. It seems a few other people have had the same idea & there are a few blogs out there doing a similar thing now, which is cool. I guess I never tire of looking at pictures of records & reading about records, so I'm interested in seeing if there are any other record-related blogs out there. Can anyone suggest any?
  6. These look amazing... although I don't check this board too often, and I have no idea what record this is. Any chance you could post some details? Is it possible to order, or have I already missed pre-orders? Thanks!
  7. These records were supposed to be out in January. Then it got puched back to April. Then June. I have checked this site every single day of this year so far, and FINALLY the pre-orders are up! Two new pieces of Jesu vinyl: http://www.avalancheinc.co.uk/store.html (Shame they're so expensive!)
  8. No... because I haven't got or heard the reissues. I think that technically, GZ vinyl is actually superior in terms of sound quality. However, I don't believe that this can be easily detected. I figure this theory is probably similar to the common "color vinyl doesn't sound as good as black" argument that people use. It may be better technically, but I don't think the average human ear would notice any difference. In their defence, I hear a lot of good things about the customer service at Pirates Press / GZ. I think poor service at US plants is what drove a lot of labels to seek someone new anyway. They seem to have good service on lock down. My gripes are only with the aesthetics. And they're not major to most people. Just those of us at the nerdier end of the spectrum.
  9. I made a comment about GZ in the "Dedicated to Babies born feet first" thread - partly because I've discussed my feelings on GZ with one of the dudes who owns Deathwish before on a couple of occasions. And in case he reads this board I thought it might make him laugh. I am probably THE most anti GZ person in the world. I guess this is because some of my favourite labels started using GZ in the last few years, and in my opinion the records do not look as good. Two examples that highlight this: 1. The DOWN TO NOTHING "Higher Learning" 7" on Revelation. The vinyl for that, whichever color you choose to look at, looks horrible. It looks like a really cheap plastic. Not the usual quality I associate with Revelation. 2. Isis "Oceanic" or "Celestial" - the original pressings were done in the US, the represses were done at GZ. If you compare the two, the original versions look much nicer... although maybe that's just my opinion. My personal sentiments are simply that the GZ vinyl does not look as nice as vinyl from most US plants. As a long time record nerd, it's the subtle differences that I notice most, such as: - I really don't like the typed matrix. I prefer the hand etched style you get from places like Erika, United or Rainbo. - I don't like the labels on the records. They're not as glossy, more of a matt finish, and almost look like regular paper stuck on the records. - The vinyl itself feels more plastic-y. Hard to describe, but they just don't look as shiny, and feel more brittle than the vinyl from US plants. - I don't like the square corners that the paper dust sleeves have. Stupid, I know, but I prefer the ones from US plants that have curved corners rather than right angle corners. Generally, I think that the GZ product looks like a cheap imitation of the stuff pressed in the US. HOWEVER, this is all coming from the perspective of someone who has collected records for about 16 years. So the US product is what I have grown up with and consider "normal". So anything new and slightly different seems to be not right. But I fully acknowledge that if I had been buying GZ vinyl for years and then everyone started using Erika, I'd probably complain that Erika's vinyl was a poor imitation of GZ for the exact same reasons. Sorry to ramble, but you did ask.
  10. I read the interview with interest. I have a few Coalesce records myself. Here's an example just to mess with your mind:
  11. I would describe as excellent. A small mark on the sleeve, other than that it is pretty flawless.
  12. I have a spare of Jawbreaker 'Chesterfield King' 12" that I am looking to trade. Get in touch if you want it. TRADE ONLY My want list is here: http://www.endlessquestrecords.com/wordpress/want-list/
  13. Not sure if this will help, or just piss you off, but here's some more info... First up, there's a white vinyl version of "Venetian Blinds". I think this is first press, since I ordered it before the record was actually released way back when: Next up, the "We Are The Only Friends We Have" LP. I also had this on order before it came out. The one I got sent is a bright green. Here's a pic of it with the darker green marble one so you can see the difference: Next, there was a tour version of the "Simple Plan" 7", which is on clear green vinyl with plain white labels. It's shown here: And here's what is stamped inside the 'sleeve': Finally, not related to Big Wheel, but I have a spare copy of the "When Life Hands You Lemons" LP on green vinyl (missing an insert). If you want to trade or buy it then feel free to send me offers: Thanks for listening!
  14. I sent a big box of these records on a plane to the States at the end of Jan. For some reason it took a couple of weeks to arrive & clear customs, and then the guy in the band who was supposed to send them to Virgil was going away for a week or so. But they really should be there any day now. In the meantime, check out my stupid new blog: http://endlessquestrecords.blogspot.com/
  15. Of course it's possible. It's called "starting a record label". In all seriousness though, I have done this. I asked the label and the band for permission. The label said they would have no problem as long as the band were into it. And co-incidentally, the band said that they would be into it as long as the record label were into it. The only thing you'l need to figure out is what you can offer the label and band for doing it. Neither are likely to want to just give you a recording that they paid for for free.
  16. The short answer is "NOT ENOUGH!" The longer, more boring answer is: 7" - 1657 12" - 1095 10" - 55 Total - 2807 Plus about 100 Trades/Doubles, plus a couple of hundred records that I have released still in my room. Oh, and CDs don't count.
  17. I've got those Blood Brothers 7"s you want, I'd def trade them if you're interested. Sorry, they're only minor wants. I looked through your list & the only thing that caught my attention was the Jawbreaker 7" on red / 150... although I'm guessing you ain't parting with that one! If anyone else is interested in trading please pm me rather than post on here.
  18. i have nothing you want. do you want cash money? Just checked your list. Sorry, you're right, no trade possibility. Not really wanting to sell to be honest.
  19. I have this on original yellow vinyl, and also pic disc. However, the pic disc i have was on Rhetoric records, and doesn't appear to be shown on the discographhy site. Weird. Actually, it is, I just spotted it. I am stupid. Sorry.
  20. I have this on blue and am not overly attached to it. Would consider trade offers if anyone wants it. (My want list is on my website, see below)
  21. My girlfriend spent $300 buying me a rare Gorilla Biscuits 7" on eBay. It was the sweetest gesture of all time. It's just a shame that the dude sent her a different record and now won't answer emails!!!
  22. I haven't sent any yet. How many he takes in total depends on the demand for the pre-order... although I would hope it's not less than 40 else I'm going to lose money on the shipping :-[
  23. Rejected Test is in a black "disco bag" sleeve, hand numbered of 25. Accepted Test is in a proper, plain white LP sleeve with a colour pic glued on the front, and has stamped and hand numbered labels out of 27 (geddit?). The winner of the contest gets the same number of both versions... number 19. And number 19.
