  8. hey, let's all prove we really have girfriends! ha. just kidding you guys. also, that you all have beards. wait . . . . . . it's cool though, she's my wife
  9. it's a tracking problem. if you don't have the ability to adjust the tracking (sometimes called "anti-skating") you might just be effed
  10. two numark tt-200 tables into a behringer mixer (which doubles as a preamp) which then runs into a 750 watt yamaha receiver. i'm fond of it. sounds great. add about 50 LPs and 50 7"s to the picture and it's about right.
  11. look at you with the strategically placed refused record. ha.
  12. they almost all do. most will come with a regular cartridge which will allow you to change out the stylus. i say read reviews and pick what works for you. i like numark but if i had the cash to drop i would pick up a Technics 1200. they're the gold standard. i would highly recommend getting a direct drive.
  13. the tables have nothing to do with deep pressure or cutting grooves in records. that all comes down to the cartridge, stylus, and the pressure applied to them. you can use pretty much any stylus (needle) you want to achieve the effect you desire. basically if you want a day to day turntable with no DJ applications just purchase a regular stylus and if you want to mix/scratch your records then pick up a DJ cartridge and stylus. from there you can adjust the pressure on the cartridge/needle by adjusting the weight put on the tonearm. for example: heavy DJ style cartridge and stylus lighter day to day style cartridge notice that the DJ style is in an "eagle claw" configuration to keep the needle firmly on the record surface while the day to day style cartridge is in a "head shell" configuration and is basically meant to sit lightly on the record. to apply more/less pressure you simply have to set the weight on the tone arm. by rotating the weight it slides front/back and uses a simple lever principle to push weight forward onto the cartridge/stylus or away from it. the closer the weight to the pivot point, the heavier the pressure placed on the record. for example: by turning the weight clockwise you are increasing the downward force put upon the needle and therefore on the record. the main thing to look for when purchasing a cartridge/stylus (aside from compatibility with your turntable) is the force that it needs to have put upon it in order to function correctly. the higher the force needed, the more wear it will cause on your records. so if you want them to last for a long time, get a set up with minimal weight needed. i hope that answers some questions.
