  13. Below that, the ever-amazing list of new items we've picked up. For restocks, just visit the site HERE - too much to list. Nice outside, please enjoy. -Josh American Football "s/t - LP2" LP New music from American Football! Orange vinyl! Like it did in 1999, American Football proves its ability to stand out in a sea of contemporaries and imitators, post-aughts emo revival or no. If an instant classic like their second album shows anything, it’s that, with the right confluence of events, the lost will eventually find a way back home. 16.50 | Learn more Beach Slang "A Loud Bash of Teenage Feelings" LP 180 gram - green vinyl First there’s the choppy E chord, revving the song like a boot stomping a gas pedal: the sound of all that excess energy built up at the start of the night. Then comes James Alex’s fine-grain sandpaper voice: “Play it loud, play it fast / Play me something that will always last / Play it soft, play it quiet / Play me something that might save my life…” James Alex, songwriter and front man for Philly indie-punk outfit Beach Slang, knows wherefrom he sings. Like a lot of us, Alex is that kid Lou Reed sang about, the one whose life was saved by rock and roll. And A Loud Bash Of Teenage Feelings , Beach Slang’s second full-length, is just that—a crash-and-thunder collection of songs about what it takes to keep yourself going, to make it through the rest of the night—hell, through the rest of your youth—and beyond. 18.50 | Learn more Funeral Chic "Hatred Swarm" LP Hailing from Charlotte, NC, the band has produced ten tracks of blackened hardcore seething with sardonically angry vocals and crushing guitars to create a bludgeoning aural assault. Formed in 2014, and putting out an amazing EP on NC's own Headfirst Records in 2015, they have brought one of the most pissed off records of 2016. Professionally recorded by Rick Contes and expertly mastered by Brad Boatright at Audio Siege and pressed to 150 gram vinyl, this will be a truly heavy release. 12.50 | Learn more Planes Mistaken for Stars "Prey" LP Planes Mistaken For Stars formed in Peoria, Illinois in 1997, and relocated to Denver Colorado in 1999. From the outset, they were an artistic anomaly; carrying both a worn rust belt heart a warm midwestern soul. Collectively they combined different kinds of musical rebellion; hardcore aggression, punk energy, and gritty rock n’ roll spirit into their own special noise. Ultimately laying the blueprint for today’s emotional punk rock resurgence. "Prey" is the long awaited new album from Planes Mistaken For Stars. Produced and engineered by Sanford Parker (Wovenhand, Leviathan, Yob), "Prey" is a beautifully haunting return to form. In need of isolation to finish writing the album, founder Gared O’Donnell took to the road alone. Instead of finding a predictable muse, he found himself driving deep into the crumbling heart of middle America. There, Gared took up residence in decrepit motels, finding inspiration in the descending darkness surrounding him. 16.00 | Learn more Sex Prisoner "Tannhauser Gate" LP First full length record from Tucson Arizona’s Sex Prisoner, blending powerviolence with a more metalcore approach. 14.00 | Learn more Shitstorm / Radiation split 7” The Grind crew SHITSTORM with Jonathan Nuñez and Rick Smith from TORCHE terrorize with gruffer, speed/death metal-tinged destruction 7 great tracks. Gainesville FL's RADIATION release their next split 7”after a highly regarded 7”, demo tape and live Grindcore influenced raw punk in vein of CONFUSE, SORE THROAT, FEAR OF GOD, etc. Dueling vocals and a break neck speed & intensity to weed out the posers and copy cats of the genre. 7.60 | Learn more Torture Chain "Wasting Syndrome" LP After nearly a decade of cassette tape releases and one LP in 2013, Torture Chain finally unleashes its monster second full-length record, ‘Wasting Syndrome,’ on Darkest Heavy. This three-track beast is by far the band’s finest to date, perfectly channeling the spiteful, nihilistic and abysmal sounds of bands such as Beherit, Ulver and Varathron into a sound that’s completely their own. Each of the three tracks on this LP are extremely well thought out and superbly executed, with enough changes, melodies, atmosphere and—most importantly—RIFFS that will suffocate your senses with each spin. 15.50 | Learn more Weekend Nachos "Apology" LP Chicago’s Weekend Nachos go out in a storm of hatred with the release of their final album Apology. Recorded by the band's own Andy Nelson at Bricktop Studios (Lord Mantis, Like Rats, Harms Way), Apology is a veritable tornado of grindcore/powerviolence/hardcore savagery. Apology is thirteen tracks of utter punishment that has Weekend Nachos sounding more dangerous and urgent than ever before. Features guest vocal appearances from Dylan Walker of Full of Hell. 14.00 | Learn more
  14. Finally a new SENIOR FELLOWS LP - and this one is simply epic. More information on that below, of course followed by a generous list of recent restocks. http://deadtankrecords.com ** Senior Fellows "The Christened Remains of an Evolutionary Catastrophe" LP - $13 This pre-order ships November 1st. The third LP from Tulsa's SENIOR FELLOWS. A politically charged bundle of thorns. Their brand of drudgery eschews the bluesy riffing of Eyehategod and the theatrical tones of traditional doom like Candlemass. Instead, it?s a sound not entirely alone, but close. Sonic cousins of Neurosis, Cult of Luna, Thou, Primitive Man - the album is a snail-paced web of razors, scouring the dogmatic debris from a millennium of human progress and enlightenment. Featuring ex-members of Brother Inferior, Kill The Client, etc. ** Bastard Noise "Doomed Expedition" 2xLP - $22 The long awaited Live At No Fun Fest 2009, three sided double LP, BASTARD NOISE : Doomed Expedition recorded at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York by CHRIS GOUDREAU of Sickness. Doomed Expedition reflects the strength and confidence of a unit seasoned in its' compositional direction and accuracy. Immaculate fidelity and a precision mix only add to the "sound journey". Doomed Expedition features material from Rogue Astronaut, plus an exclusive, never before released composition in nearly 50 minutes of playing time. Package includes a double-sided full-color poster, full-color labels on virgin black vinyl, large 4"x5" vinyl sticker and limited edition Doomed Expedition REESE FOWLER badge. Limited edition of 400 copies. ** Dawn Ray'd "A Thorn, A Blight" LP - $13.00 In about 23 spellbinding minutes, the British men in Dawn Ray?d display a maturity unfound in most bands? first release. Listed as ?atmospheric wizard rap? in Metallum, there is not much ambience and certainly no spare time here. Instead, the atmosphere is derived from the raw emotion in these pieces. A molotov cocktail of wizard rap, crust, ambient, neoclassical, screamo, and radical politics. ** Haymaker "Taxed... Tracked... Inoculated... Enslaved!" LP - $14.00 Almost twenty years since their last full-length, Hamilton's legendary HAYMAKER return with their sophomore album and it's everything we hoped it would be: twenty tracks of relentless pissed-off hardcore. ** Into The Thicket "Dark Night Of The Soul" Tape - $6 ...a project by a former member of Black Seas of Infinity. They'd make magic and music all day in the mountains of Utah with a pile of bones in their basement - including one human skull. Since then, the man behind Into the Thicket has moved on to focus his art upon bones and early photography in the great state of Florida. His songs here also focused upon ritual magic and various subjective ceremonies. 15. We still have quite a bit on sale, plus all the regular additions and restocks at http://deadtankrecords.com. Read more about it all below. Ausmuteants "Band Of The Future" LP Band Of The Future is AUSMUTEANTS fourth album and probably their best to date. Previous albums have been released in the US on Goner Records; they toured the US in support of their previous album Order of Operation in 2014 Ausmuteants are not the band of the future or the past. Ausmuteants are just a band. Not punk, new wave, hardcore, boogie, darkwave, Oi, hyphenate-rock or pet rock. Not sharpies. Not chavs. Not drug users and not straight edge. Ausmuteants are regular dudes practicing the sound of things falling apart. OK, that’s enough trying to perfume a fart, just listen to the thing. 15.50 | Learn more Bastard Noise "Doomed Expedition" 2xLP The long awaited Live At No Fun Fest 2009, three sided double LP, BASTARD NOISE : Doomed Expedition recorded at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York by CHRIS GOUDREAU of Sickness. Clearly coming from a similar sonic place as recent pogo-infused hardcore bands like Glue and Strutter, Drugcharge not only match those bands in intensity, power, and catchiness, but also add in some subtle little quirks that, even to an avowed music snob like myself, seem truly novel, like the odd backing vocal tracks that are peppered throughout the record. In a world crowded with competent hardcore bands, Drugcharge manage to stand out as one of the handful that are truly special. Limited to a one-time pressing of 250 copies. 6.00 | Learn more Ghastly City Sleep "Lulling Skulls" 2xLP Brooklyn outfit featuring members of fondly remembered Richmond punk acts City of Caterpillar and Pg 99, have released their fourth full-length, a double LP entitled Lulling Skulls. The vinyl packaging–silkscreened jackets, newsprint inserts–is as doted upon as the music, which fuses furtive electronic textures and serpentine melodies in expansive indie-rock songs that at times evoke Radiohead, or else skewed memories of R&B. Limited edition of 500. 22.50 | Learn more Milemarker "Overseas" LP Recently reunited synth-punk/post-hardcore band MILEMARKER deliver a new album via Lovitt Records. Coming a decade after their last full-length release, Overseas is notable for being a focused and cohesive effort. Fans of early 2000s releases like Frigid Forms Sell and Anaesthetic will find a clear sonic continuity in the angular, aggressive guitars, tense melodic vocals and soaring keyboard hooks. New members KENA KILKKA (synth, vocals) and EZRA CALE (drums) deepen the krautrock and electronic tendencies, pushing the sound in unexpected directions. The album was recorded in Berlin and Hamburg, Germany (where the band is now located), with Electrical Audio studios’ GREG NORMAN (Russian Circles, Godspeed You Black Emperor!) behind the board. Formed 1997 in Chapel Hill, NC by AL BURIAN, DAVE LANEY and BEN DAVIS, Milemarker quickly gained recognition in the independent music scene for their explosive live shows and adventurous instrumentation. The band became known for its combination of post-hardcore punk with new wave electronics, and grew to include singer/synth player ROBY NEWTON, as well as drummers SEAN HUYSICK and NOAH LEGER. Milemarker played nearly 1000 shows in support of their releases Frigid Forms Sell (Lovitt, 2000) and Anaesthetic (Jade Tree, 2001), touring extensively in North America, Europe and Japan. In 2009, guitarist Dave Laney moved to Hamburg and bassist Al Burian moved to Berlin. Milemarker reformed in 2014 and returned to the stage in 2015 with Lena Kilkka on keys and vocals and Ezra Cale on drums. This summer, the band will embark on their first U.S. tour since 2008, including a performance at the Wrecking Ball ATL festival in Atlanta, GA 14.50 | Learn more Nots "Cosmetic" LP The second full-length statement from Memphis’ Nots, Cosmetic fearlessly attacks the rough edges between desire, deceit, appearance and reality. Not chanting down Babylon, Natalie Hoffmann screams straight into its face. In this Game Of Death, Nots run through the maze of mirrors with sledgehammers— oh, the sound of mirrors smashing—let’s smash some more! Nots are still a wild guitar band, but above and below the guitar, bass and drum pound, Alexandra Eastburn’s analog synth blurps melodies and nonsense, teasing squiggles of freedom which defy the false grid of modern life. With Hoffmann on guitar and vocals, Eastburn on synth, Charlotte Watson beating drums, and Meredith Lones steering a solid path through the chaos on bass, Nots are neither content with the smug “stare at your shoes” approach of bands from both coasts, nor an Earth-hugging “we need to get back to nature” hippie cop-out. There might not be any answers here. That might be the point. Nots have arrived at the next level of their attack with confidence and music that lays waste to the wasteland without romantic attachments.. 15.80 | Learn more Oathbreaker "Rheia" 2xLP “Rheia” is the groundbreaking album from Belgium’s Oathbreaker. Engineered, mixed, and mastered by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Loma Prieta), “Rheia” is a true game changer for the genre. Blurring lines and dissolving the boundaries of heavy music as we know it today. Opener “10:56” begins with a haunting guitar riff and Caro Tanghe’s beautifully sung vocal before abruptly soaring to new heights with “Second Son of R”. Its blasts of melody mutate into a blackened buzz while waves of tempo changes pound down with intense emotional weight. “Being Able To Feel Nothing” then rolls in like a storm. Chaotically breaking apart to reveal the eye before churning once again. “Stay Here / Accroche-Moi” is an otherworldly reverb drenched acoustic number that leads to “Needles In Your Skin”. A deeply personal song that showcases the artistic strength vulnerability brings. It’s hard to believe that this is just the half way point of this post everything masterwork. “Immortals” then unfurls as a goose bump inducing monster. This leads to the ambitious “I’m Sorry, This Is”, “Where I Live”, and “Where I Leave”; A musical triptych that needs to be heard to be believed. All of it comes to an end with mesmerizing closer “Begeerte”. Ethereally materializing before vanishing into the beautiful unknown. 22.50 | Learn more Parquet Courts "Performing Human" 12" “The catalyst of the song Human Performance [reflects] my own flawed performance of humanity, and how it affects those around me. It directly mourns the loss of someone in my life, a party that knows the story and likely doesn’t care for it to be retold, any more than the song has already done…. “Ultimately, the song is about living in the company of one’s own shame. Perhaps it was the years spent as an altar boy that gave me an inclination toward repentance and atonement. I’ve never been a believer, but I can understand the appeal of faith, especially when it includes the promise of unconditional love and forgiveness. Human Performance is about the absence of that faith, and how haunting it is.” 12.50 | Learn more Sect "s/t" LP HC nod to something almost like Swedish death metal, from members of Cursed (Chris on vocals), Earth Crisis and Catharsis. With two countries and four hometowns between them, Sect was born when two project ideas between tour mates merged into the same experiment, finally taking shape in 2015 and culminating in recording sessions in Raleigh NC in early 2016. Sect is comprised of five veterans of ‘90s hardcore who cut their teeth in that formative moment of political, cynical, antagonistic extremes. They each went on to put in their time in bands spanning all corners of the hardcore and xvx worlds, though they’d rather skip the ex-members talk entirely and get right down to the blast beats and breakdowns that fight it out in their chaotic jams - aka cut the shit and go for the throat. Because the Orwellian police states and irreparable social and ecological disasters we once saw off on the horizon are now on our front doorsteps, in full swing - and in just such a volatile, precarious moment as this for civilization, there is more reason than ever to keep lashing out at a world more suicidally bent on its own destruction and the exploitation of people, species and the ecosystem itself, than perhaps ever before in history. For Sect, this is the purpose of hardcore as they know it, conveying an urgency that transcends age, credentials or scene politics, to convert desperation into real talk and action. 15.00 | Learn more Shondes, The "Brighton" LP When The Shondes released The Garden (Exotic Fever 2013), frontwoman Louisa Solomon said it was “an album about growing up,” and she had no idea how right she was. Rolling Stone’s 4-star review dubbed it “Riot-grrrl furor, arena bombast and klezmer stomp,” while The Washington Post said: “Every time I’ve seen The Shondes, a hurricane has touched down. Violinist Elijah Oberman rocks his instrument like the world is ending. Louisa Solomon sings like her soul is leaping out of her mouth.” Following this was a national tour with Against Me!. These scrappy, heart-on-their-sleeves New Yorkers were truly coming into their own, and they set right to work on their follow-up, Brighton. And here it is.. 16.00 | Learn more True Widow "Avvolgere" 2xLP 'Avvolgere,' from Texas trio TRUE WIDOW, perfects the formula that 2013's 'Circumambulation' established. The album rocks and rolls with serene, rounded climaxes and steep, jangling choruses that engulf the listener with waves of downbeat, saccharine melodies and mesmerizing distortion. TRUE WIDOW's signature alternation between male and female vocals helps further blur the boundaries between the heft of stoner rock, the droning atmosphere of shoegaze, and the twangy catchiness of blues and indie rock. It's both concise and circuitous - the album takes you on a journey that you can't ever quite predict or expect. 'Avvolgere' is TRUE WIDOW sounding more infectious and consummate than ever before. 23.00 | Learn more Warpaint "Heads Up" 2xLP Pink / Black vinyl variant. It’s easy to get the wrong impression about Warpaint. The band’s studio albums (including their most recent full-length, 2014’s Warpaint) have tended to emphasize moody atmospheres: gauzy keyboards, hypnotic harmonies and sinister grooves. In concert, however, the Los Angeles quartet—vocalist/guitarist Emily Kokal, vocalist/guitarist Theresa Wayman, bassist/vocalist Jenny Lee Lindberg and drummer/keyboardist/vocalist Stella Mozgawa—pair this moodiness with bumped-up tempos and sinewy beats. The music’s no less dark—but it has an additional rhythmic urgency and tension that can be surprising. Of course, confounding expectations has been part of Warpaint’s m.o. since the band formed in 2004. And so when the band convened to make their third studio album, Heads Up, they shared a common goal: to make a faster, dance-oriented record. “We’ve always had this really jammy, high-energy live show compared to some of our records,” Kokal says. “We all love to dance. We didn’t want to take away from the emotion or the core feeling of what our band is all about—which I don’t even think we could take out if we wanted, because it is who we are—but we wanted to bump the speed up and have a little bit more fun.” Mission accomplished. 27.00 | Learn more RECENT RESTOCKS Birds in a Row "Personal War" LP Birds in a Row "You, Me and Violence" LP Birds In Row / WAITC split 10" Blackball "S/T" 7" Cough "Ritual Abuse" 2xLP Cough "Still They Pray" 2xLP Gay Kiss "Preservation Measures" 12" Harmwulf "Hirah" LP Mob Rules "The Donor" LP Rough Kids "S/T" (2nd LP) 12" Sickoids "No Home" 12" Torche "Restarter" LP Torso "Sono Pronta A Morire" 12" True Widow "Circumambulation" LP Whatever Brains "S/T" (4th LP) 12" Zombi "The Zombi Anthology" LP
