  1. Probably Matt & Kim at the Black Cat in DC. Those two can really put on a good show.
  2. Yup. You guys just haven't heard of it, yet . . . UNTIL NOW. I imagine second-wave guys said the same thing. Well how is this different from stuff from the third wave? The three waves everyone's familiar with are all pretty distinguishable.
  3. Set Your Goals? I thought that record blew. What about it appeals to you?
  4. These are some of my favorites from this year: Dear Landlord: Dream Homes Strike Anywhere: Iron Front Teenage Bottlerocket: They Came from the Shadows Japandroids: Post-Nothing Animal Collective: Merriweather Post Pavilion Andrew Jackson Jihad: Can’t Maintain Matt and Kim: Grand Passion Pit: Manners O Pioneers!!!: Neon Creeps Cheap Girls: My Roaring 20’s Bomb the Music Industry: Scrambles! Polar Bear Club: Chasing Hamburg
  5. Ohhh I found one. Or rather two colors of one record.
  6. Ask three people about government run health care: Members of Congress, current members of the Armed Forces, and Vets. All would say their health care kicks ass and all have government-run health care. Which is part of the reason I think government-run health care should be the goal. I'm just being pessimistic about the prospects.
  7. This. I know what I think should be done but I don't trust the fuckers in our government to do it.
  8. I mean it seems pretty simple to me. Right now we have more or less market allocated healthcare. Under this system we have more than 40 million people without health insurance and millions more who are underinsured. Also, under this system, the number one reason for bankruptcies are medical bills, because the cost of care is incredibly high. So it would seem logical that if we want to solve these problems, we have to change the system under which it has come to be. That system is a market driven healthcare system. So, what's the alternative? A government-allocated system in which everyone has access to affordable health insurance and the government heavily regulates the private insurance industry. Yes, insurance companies would lose money. Yes, doctors may make a little less money. Yes, market dogmatists will argue that a single payer system would reduce innovation in new drugs and medical devices. But what good are these profits and innovation when the system isn't even doing what it's supposed to -- i.e. provide people with medical care. I don't know, it seems so logical to me. + $.02
  9. The guitarist in my band uses a compression, overdrive and tremolo. The compression and overdrive work really well together.
  10. Dude had never been to war. But still, he is in the army, and was about to be shipped off to the Middle East in just a few weeks. So yes, this is what war does to people who haven't even been there yet.
  11. Can't wait to hear some new songs. Solid band. And Brian seems like a solid dude, too.
  12. Yes, this will be expensive. Yes, I will (probably) convince myself to spend the money. Yes, it will be worth it. But seriously, owning a vinyl boxset of The Beatles' discography is almost like preserving a piece of history.
  13. That's pretty badass, keevhren. But can I ask, was it all for the money/thrill? Or was there any political bent behind it?
  14. While I doubt she'll make as much of a difference as she hopes to, I'm all for student power. Good job, Kathryn.
