  1. via metal sucks..

Record Store Day is a-comin’, and with it, the expected plethora of special releases that you will either find incredibly cool or incredibly gimmicky, depending on your point of view. So props to Earache for coming up with such a release that actually manages to stand out from the pack: The World’s Shortest Album, a limited edition 5″ that has thirteen songs on it, but is all of eighty-three seconds long.

You shouldn’t even need to ask how that’s possible, but in case you’re either new here or just very dense, the answer is, “grindcore,” a genre for which an eighty-three second run time is basically a double album.

Here’s the track listing, via No Clean Singing:

    Side A:
    01. Napalm Death – “You Suffer” (1.9s)
    02. Napalm Death – “Dead” (2.7s)
    03. Napalm Death – “Your Achievement” (4.2s)
    04. Wormrot – “False Grind Sodomy” (2.5s)
    05. Wormrot – “You Suffer But Why Is It My Problem” (4.0s)
    06. Brutal Truth – “Collateral Damage” (4.0s)
    07. Anal Cunt – “Howard Wulkan’s Bald” (4.0s)

    Side B:
    01. Lawnmower Deth – “Be Scene Not Heard” (4.7s)
    02. Painkiller – “Trailmarker” (6.0s)
    03. Brutal Truth – “Blockhead” (7.3s)
    04. Morbid Angel – “Bil Ur-Sag #2 Lava” (6.9s)
    05. Anal Cunt – “Windchimes Are Gay” (9.5s)
    06. Insect Warfare – “Street Sweeper” (13.5s)

So I guess this comp could theoretically lead to a very long discussion regarding why the hell grind bands even record such songs in the first place, but I don’t really feel like having that discussion. Like all Record Store Day releases, it’s really just meant to entice you to visit an actual honest-to-Christ record store, and there are certainly more ignoble aspirations in the world.

Below, enjoy a video of The World’s Shortest Album being played in its entirety.

  2. Got my ordered today and the Pygmy Lush LP happened to be the clear with red /50 and the Frodus 7" had the alternative cover and was clear yellow. Anybody know anything about the clear yellow Frodus? Discogs only lists the clear. Anyway, cool surprises nonetheless.

    hey ..

just a head's up.  Talked to Lovitt today, they told me that they did 125 of the yellow ones.

    /125.  that's pretty cool.

  3. Nah, you didn't miss anything. I was being a dick and trying to pull some April foolishness. Sucks that you of all people are the one that believed it.

I think that Ash Borer tour started. Hopefully one of your contacts will be able to help us snag a tour copy of the new EP.

since I got home passed 12am I just assumed all April Fool's offerings were null and void!  haha.

yeah I actually think that Ash Borer thing might happen.  rumor has it my friend has a friend that's putting together a show for them in Germany.  more on that as it develops.

thanks for making me looking like an idiot in a public forum, I appreciate that!  haha

  4. For some reason I couldn't find a thread about this LP.

check them out.  from Dc area and sound like a lot of old Lovitt / Gern stuff.

  5. Based on the description, I think you're right.  In the past I know they've done a limited color for the first so-many orders, but, in those cases they usually stated so.

    yeah I think so too.

they did that for Mountains and a few other LP's recently.  I was hoping for something for this one..

  6. as per Ash Borer's website..  *( http://ash-borer.blogspot.com/2013/03/bloodlands-digital-release-cold-of-ages.html , just in case the link doesn't play or whatever...)

Bandcamp for those that wish to support the band. Available immediately. A
limited tour edition of the LP will be available in Europe, along with a
cassette edition released by the band in conjunction with Psychic Violence
Records. Link to purchase and stream below.

    The
Cold of Ages DLP, featuring an updated and heavier mix/master than the CD
edition, will be available from the band in Europe as well. Pesanta Urfolk will
