  1. You guys seen this one yet? http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/2010/10/im_mike_huckabee_and_i_approve.php Wtf is happening?
  2. The ASG - "Win us over" album is called "Win us" on the A-side. The only other typo I can remember is the DFA 1979 - "You're a woman..." repress. I usually don't read all the fine print, but somehow I noticed that on the label they misspelled "license" twice: "under exclusive liscense to 679 Recordings Ltd." and in the next sentence "under exclusive liscens to 679 Recordings Ltd." On the cover they spelled it twice liscence. Writing this I just realize that I should get a life ... fml
  3. Thanks for the insight from robotic. I'm the last to bitch about the price and the music is great no complaining about that from me. The following is just a collection of points to add to the price discussion that could have been done better: In terms of PR: what circlingvultures said. But also PR is a tricky field, you can literally burn millions without reaching the right people. According to HHs own blog entry, the making of the video cost $140 (including the wrap bbq). It is a funny one though, silly funny. You'll surely not forget that tongue. The high price has been bad PR for HH, even the German mailorder Flight13 is saying in their catalog (almost apologizing) that they are not to blame that the price is so high. About the packaging, can't top the Meanderthal release for sure. But it is always worth trying. I have to admit it was an original idea, but who associates something expensive with a greeting card? At least not with that slightly raunchy "artwork". We surely don't know the spreadsheets behind the price calculations here and damn, the band deserves to get some extra bucks (which they hopefully are) so they can make a living from their music and deliver more awesome tunes in the future. This post is not to be read as a rant but rather as suggestions to take into consideration when it comes to future releases.
  4. Last couple months have been about 90% from the US (am I living on the wrong side of the pond?)... And one of those orders (containing 3 records) was even because I got it somewhat cheaper than I would here in europe.
  5. And I always wondered record that was because it is the profile pic of http://twitter.com/discographies . And now that I know, I realize that I could have clicked the profile image to see it full size...
  6. Dang, I just ordered some stuff from Robotic that I could have easily put on hold until this came out. Another overseas package for me ... Well, let's see and wait for the pressing info. I might get it from Germany but then again, there will be so many colors to chose from and usually only the most common color makes it overseas. Damn Robotic/Hydrahead making me poorer and USPS richer.
  7. The ultimate OCD guide to opening Torche's - Songs for Singles: 1. Boil some water in a kettle 2. Let it cool down a bit, you don't want to ruin the vinyl inside with the heat of the water. The water needs to be just hot enough that it will steam. 3. Hold the glued part of the sleeve over the steaming water for 20 secs, then let your sleeve cool down again, you don't want to bend your vinyl. 4. Slide in a butter knife GENTLY in between the glued parts, preferably not with the sharp side, and test if the glue has softened. If not repeat step 3) about 4 to 4 times. The paper takes a while to get moist enough, but when it is, it will open surprisingly easy, so be patient! 5. ??? 6. Profit See image for perfectly opened sleeve.
  8. well, this pic should sum up all variants of the first pressing. Still waiting for mine and not sure when my package will arrive from overseas, so can't tell about the weight. Already wondering how to open that outer envelope. Just wouldn't want to tear it open. Has anyone tried the old spy trick? Holding the envelope over boiling water to open the envelope without damaging it?
  9. That's exactly why I like them. They are like a stoned version of DFA 1979. Talking about DFA 1979: there is a reissue of "You're a Woman, I'm a Machine" on pink vinyl from Puregroove in London. http://www.puregroove.co.uk/products/Death-From-Above-1979-%252d-You%27re-a-Woman%2C-I%27m-a-Machine-%252d-Exclusive-Double-Pink-Vinyl.html
  10. I just received my glow in the darkcopy and I live in Europe. Actually I received a Volcom newsletter about this release. Never heard of Tweak Bird before, but listening to them here http://www.tweakbird.com/store2010.html just blew me away. So the interesting part about the newsletter for us Europeans is this: I wrote hime and a week or so later I got it. And it even sounds good as well. Just read about many glow in the dark pressings that sound like shit, but as far as I can tell it sound great.
