  1. And I just bought all your albums including the vinyl Keep up the good work!! Looking forward to hearing your stuff.
  2. Ok....MAJOR MAJOR update from my side! Even I'm weak in the knees this time around All items are on order and were finalized on July 12th. So let's see how long it all takes to get in and setup. 1) The EAR Discmaster. This is a dream level table for me... http://www.needledoctor.com/EAR-Disc-Master-Turntable 2) The EAR Acute 4 Transport and EAR Dac 4. Delivery in 4 ~ 6 weeks.http://www.earyoshino.com/Dac4/http://www.earyoshino.com/Acute4/ 3) Last and final upgrade, and the biggest one yet. The Marten Coltrane Tenor loudspeakers https://www.marten.se/coltrane/tenor.htm I've never made such large purchases in one shot in my life...so its a big one for me. I normally spread it all out, but just didn't do it this time. Long story behind why, but regardless...all three items ordered. Now the wait begins...
  3. Hmmm, we should maybe do a SoCal meet up! Spin some records, enjoy some beer and enjoy a chat.
  4. Howdy Simon! Good to see you around here I actually picked up a vibraplane to use under the Kuzma Stabi XL4. Non ideal suspended floor setting, so had to decouple with active air compressors. It worked out very well! I will definitely keep your recommendation of the HRS Isolation base in mind if I ever get to place the system on a solid ground floor I've been eyeing the Brinkmann Balance table as it looks like such a german masterpiece...I bet it is a great sound as well. These top notch turntable manufacturers are really something else. Their craft is simply superb! I'm very glad you were able to change turntables without losing sound quality! That is really great to know. Having used the Kuzma Airline for a while, what do you feel about the Airline vs Kuzma 4 point tonearm?
  5. I'll take it. Sending a PM now.
  6. @mondie, Hi!! I am the one who bought your Kuzma Stabi XL4!! The one in your avatar. How are you doing? So do you like the Brinkmann better....if possible, can you tell me a bit about the differences sonically?
  7. Just got a Kuzma 4 Point tonearm and the VTA Tower to mount it securely: The arm pod holding the tower...it is HEAVY!!!
  8. Hey bud! I finally was able to find a speaker that gave me that single driver coherence and imagine with much better dynamic capabilities. Being ultra sensitive to crossover designs, it took a while to find something that fit the bill. The single driver path MUST be pursued so keep at it. The experience is very important I think...but yes, I am happy with what I found and my friend now owns my beloved Omega speakers. He enjoys them everyday. High school substitute teacher is correct!
  9. Hey allenh, so far I have experience a Jan Allaerts, Van Den Hul Grasshopper III GLA, Kiseki Purpleheart and a Denon DL103 through this arm. Each showed its personality unhindered pretty much. Yes, I have tried with and without the dampening fluid, and the dampening fluid really adds another major level of quietude to the record. It seems to so far have helped all the cartridges above, so much so that I pretty much have decided to leave it engaged the whole time.
  10. It's a fabulous combination really....ultra refined and very sophisticated. Really lets the cartridge come through unperturbed...I really enjoy the combination. Hassle free and always ready to Rock! (Pun intended).
  11. Ok I re-did my setup a bit. Still a bit messy but it takes so much time to sort out! A friend took pics, and I like them! Have a look: Second setup downstairs:
  12. This is NOT my setup, but I took some pictures earlier today at a friend's place where we were auditioning these new tube mono block amplifiers, the Zesto Eros amps.
  13. I used to use L'art Du Son. It was fantastic compared to many others I tried. Then I found Record Time, which was even better. Finally, I pretty much moved over to the Audiodesk Ultrasonic Cleaner. But with the Vacuum machines, Record Time was the best I have found yet. This stuff here: http://www.needledoctor.com/Record-Time-Cleaning-Solution
  14. Is that a Hanns Acoustics turntable with a Clearaudio Souther TQ-1 Linear tracking tonearm? Bitchin' setup! What is the phono? I see an Audio Technica OC9 MKII cartridge as well, so curious about the phono. Congrats!
  15. I think your strategy of getting into Opeth is better than mine actually. I personally like starting at the beginning to understand where a band comes from to be where they are today, but that's just me. I wish I had my own power plant. Damn electricity bill is usually not funny at my home I did a temporary change to the setup to just .... change things up I guess! Those are single driver bookshelf speakers hooked up to a 300B based integrated amplifier (on the floor in the middle). It is a beautiful sound, but mostly great for Jazz, small group, chamber kind of music. Rock breaks it apart as speakers don't go low enough....still heavenly to listen to!
  16. So no more turntable weight being produced through this effort now?
  17. Oh yes, I guess I did post about some clamps. The Clearaudio Solution is a very nice turntable. If I were you, I would get the Clearaudio Twister Clamp. It not only couples the record to the platter, it ensures a nice tight fit once you twist the stainless steel knob for an even tighter coupling. It WILL change the sound, mostly for the better as the stylus will see, effectively, a 4 lb record (platter coupled with the actual record itself). A sound that Clearaudio envisions. Different clamps / weights will all change the sound so you can always change to taste if you desire. But for the first clamp, definitely go with the factor ones. I would get the twister of the concept clamp.
  18. Wait a second, did I ever even post which weights I use and have?!?? LoL Link some weights here in the $100 range that you are considering...also, what turntable are you planning to use them on. Have to be careful as some tables could be exposed to weight stress that they aren't designed for. Might work fine, but might put undue stress on the platter bearings, or throw off the usability of the suspension being used etc. Basically, you have to put some thought into it rather than just add on a weight. They ALL sound different depending on mass, material choices, technical approach etc.
  19. Honestly, I would start from the beginning so you can see how they mature over time and the different directions they take...they are an EPIC band. I'm going to the 25th Anniversary concert on the 24th of this month at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, with my wife. Stoked and pumped for it! http://thescenestar.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c7a7453ef01b8d116bee3970c-400wi
  20. I can relate...I have been listening to this tonight! And going through all my Opeth collection, I just realized that I can't find my Ghost Reveries LP! Ordering a copy tonight!!!! I can't wait for the damn album to show up in my collection as who knows when I'll find it. Don't mind having 2 copies of it....I'll wear it down eventually.
  21. Beautiful speaker... I love that finish from B&W. They do that particular finish so well.
  22. WTF!? Why is this STILL for sale...I can't believe somebody hasn't bought this ESSENTIAL piece of equipment already.
