  1. Hey Allen! Well, the main towers housing the fostex single driver is run directly off the tube amplifier outputs. The two subwoofers have plate amplifiers that also house the low pass filter and crossover point settings. The plate amps take the high level (i.e. speaker level) input from the tube amplifier to have the subwoofers have the tube amp sonics/flavor.
  2. Keep the speaker, drop the dealer! That is an awesome set of speakers...
  3. Got a pair of speakers I've been dying to get for many years, but I never got around to it. Thought I was outta luck when they went out of production a few years ago. But I got a pair thanks to some amazing circumstances that the universe cooked up.... Single Driver, no crossover...just perfect artisan, hand crafted speakers and art. Hats off to Clark Blumenstein for creating these wonders! http://www.blumensteinaudio.com/ Blumenstein Naga's with dual subs:
  4. Man, I need to get a better copy of this. My black US vinyl bothers me during quiet passages I have no intention of paying flipper prices on ebay either. Anyone have any solution to this issue? Where can I get a simple clean pressing. I could care less about the color of the vinyl, I just want a clean pressing. The things we go through to partake in the music of the bands we love...gees. I'm going to check out the high resolution digital version and see what I think I guess. But I just really want the clean vinyl! 24/96 HDTracks, here I come!
  5. The Concert Fidelity ZL-120V2 SE amps came in yesterday. Super speedy delivery from Japan within 2 days!
  6. I'm advocating world peace The world is a more peaceful place when I'm locked away in my listening room. I read those articles too, and then I borrowed a pair and brought them over to listen for some time. You know what happened next. Not wealthy...just fortunate. I had to pull some strings, but I know a whole bunch of people that wouldn't even blink an eye before making a purchase like this. Totally agree...we are all much much much more fortunate than billions of people out there. Thanks for posting that.
  7. Wait the Clear version sounds perfect?? Damn it...I'm going to have to purchase this album again. Damn it...why can't they just press it properly once! Fuckers.
  8. http://stereotimes.com/post/concert-fidelity-zl120v2se-mono-amplifiers--the-aficionados-dream Concert Fidelity ZL-120V2SE monoblock amplifiers. Bought and paid for tonight! Should be shipping from japan this week sometime.
  9. Guys, how is the quality of the vinyl pressing for you? I've gone through two copies and the vinyl quality is poor....rice krispies in most quiet parts plus tics all spread around randomly. No amount of cleaning helped. If there are quiet pressings out there, I will likely keep pursuing it till I get a good copy. Else, I won't bother and live with what I have.
  10. Morrow Audio cables are very nice! Everyone is a "Cable Guy" but some just don't know it yet. For sure, there is no voodoo about signal transmission. Congrats on the upgrade!
  11. A sister and a brother! Sister is married though...but I'm not judging Mine is a keeper 4 sure. Been married 9 years now. Dated her for 8 years before that!
  12. I'm making a case for the purchase, but she understands where I'm coming from. She said to me once, that "you work really hard for all of us. It's ok to spoil yourself. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone, knock yourself out."
  13. You forgot the reason for all this madness....you left "music" off your list. Everything else is covered pretty much. 5 turntables, 13 different cartridges, multiple interconnects (can't count them), 3 sets of speaker cables, umpteen feet (change the sound as needed), hundreds of various tubes (again to change the sound if I want), 4 different amp stands with varying sonic signatures. Yet, what I really NEED is more music. Lots of holes in my Jazz collection, Art Blakey, Lee Morgan, Dexter Gordon, Jimmy Smith....too many holes. Got suggestions on that?
  14. Have a pair of monoblocks on loan from local dealer. Its been about a week of listening and now I'm tipping on the verge of purchasing. These are solid state monoblocks that do not sound like tubes OR solidstate amplification. It has tonality of tubes but speed and precision of solid state amps. Talking to the wife...she doesn't understand why on earth I need two sets of amplifiers! Here they are....Concert Fidelity ZL-120V2 SE. http://www.stereotimes.com/amp212812.shtml
  15. I'm still evaluating them Not bought yet....I might splurge, I might not. Only way to know is to try in your own system. I like what they are doing so far for the system. I'm not 100% sold yet....though the improvement is undeniable. I will confirm once I put the stock pucks back in. I will either be ok, happy with the original pucks or writing a check for the Ultra 5's.
  16. Alright crew, REALITY CHECK: Vibration control is a huge thing for audio. Not just an after thought...it needs to be built into the foundation of any system. Learn about it, read about it, try it and then implement it. There is no substitute for knowledge and experience. I figured I would share a new experience I just had with the board here as well since I'm still on a musical high while listening. I've just gotten in a set of 8 Stillpoints Ultra 5's for my speakers: http://www.theaudiobeat.com/equipment/stillpoints.htm The increase in sheer performance is superb. Basically getting more relaxed definition, a cleaner, deeper and more defined bass response with a midrange presentation that is smoothly detailed. Now, I feel that I lost some voluptuousness and midrange colorations that I really liked. A lower midrange nudge that just made music more akin to presentation of a dram of 100 year cognac vs a 40 year old Single Malt. Hard to describe but a slight glow in the lower mids went away. But what came in it's place is improved everywhere else...definition, transients, further integration of the drivers, bass response, top end response. All have been improved to varying degrees. Maybe a tube change to a second Mullard 6922 in the preamp section would bring in that extra MID glow...right now I have a Mullard 6922 and an Amperex 7308 green label in there. I am damn happy with these...but now the real hurt in the gut. Each foot is $700! Not sure if the wife is going to let me keep these, but I am going to try and make a case for it Here are the stock footers that sound perfectly fine as well. I guess, when I go back to stock, I will realize what the true loss/gains are. If I can't live without them...I'll buy the wife something nice to compensate!
  17. Congrats. Thats a fantastic cartridge. Make sure it is matched properly to the phono section to hear what it's all about. The Denon 103 tends to sound best with a proper step up transformer....I suggest cinemag CMQEE-3440A
  18. Kinda interested in the specifics of the system and room if possible. I'm guessing if a team did a room for a client, some decent thought went into putting this system together. Please share details if possible...I'm curious what got put together.

  20. What are you upgrading to? Just curious.
