  1. This might make life easier when trying to recommend adequate budget turntables to noobs: http://www.analogplanet.com/content/pro-jects-199-crosley-killer Someone needs to put that mat on an ironing board though.
  2. Sorry to hear that. How hard can it be to properly run a label, at least the shipping part? Quick question though, did you have a tracking # for your package, and if so did it ever update correctly? I received one after I ordered but after over two weeks it still just says "electronic shipping info received" and nothing else.
  3. My tracking # info also hasn't updated to anything useful. It's now looking like buying from that guy who put his up on ebay would have been the best way to get the correct item on time after all.
  4. Well my original order finally showed up, the one I got a refund for. The box looked like it was shipped from Germany, and was beat to hell. Luckily both albums inside were in their own mailers and seem to be in perfect shape. Free is good. I now have doubles of these beauties.
  5. For as much vinyl as I have it's weird to think that almost all of it I knew before I bought it. That is to say I can't remember ever experiencing an album from a favorite artists for the first time on my preferred format - vinyl. I think I'll try waiting for this one, just to try something new.
  6. You ordered vinyl and got a CD instead? Yikes. Though honestly not all that surprising given the labels track record.
  7. Did you get it in the mail? I received a usps tracking # shortly after ordering, but it never updated beyond "electronic shipping info received". Hopefully it shows up soon.
  8. It could be possible, true, but why pay way more for the exact same item? Without the sticker there's probably no way at all to even tell that it's the RSD version.
  9. Sounds like a great way to make money. Buy a stack of them from Amazon UK for 30-35$ then sell them here on ebay for 80-100 saying that it mysteriously came without an RSD sticker. Bam. Probably no difference except the fancy sticker.
  10. I can't fathom PIAS creating two separate masters, one being specifically for a /1000 RSD release. That would make no sense at all. At best it's the from the same laquer (or perhaps DMM) but with the packaging printed in a different run, or the vinyl pressed in a different run than the other readily available UK/EU version. It seems much more likely that PIAS set aside 1000 from the current repress and shipped them to the USA where RSD stickers were placed on them. Technically they are the only pressings officially imported to the States, and you could argue that it's a limited edition in that way. Someone needs to compare the numbering in the matrix to really be able to tell the difference.
  11. I was able to get it to show up for $46. I a little bummed that I paid closer to $65 a few weeks ago, but glad to just have them and be done with it. A year ago I missed them for $30 and they shot way up to at least $50 each. I would be too paranoid to wait around. If you can get them both for under $50 I think that's just about the best price you will ever see them.
  12. So both Sigur Ros records showed up today (from different UK sellers). So happy. They sound great. They arrived in perfect condition. Did I mention that they actually arrived? Because that's a huge accomplishment all by itself. Third time's the charm for me. As to the surface noise issue that people are worried about, on my copies it's not a problem. They might not be quite as quiet as say the best Wilco albums, but close enough. They're certainly not as noisy as my copy of Inni, which I still consider to be a decent pressing. The Agaetis packaging is nice, but nothing really special. Clear Sigur Ros sticker on the poly wrap, which is a little annoying because if I want to remove the poly it's nigh impossible to transfer these kinds of stickers without lines appearing on them as the adhesive pulls away from the plastic. The inners are just normal white paper. Would have been nice if they would have at least provided plastic lined paper inners, or at least black paper to match the outer. The ( ) packaging is very simple but rather elegant. Die cut matte outer, thick printed inners with glossy ( )'s in their centers. Gorgeous thing.
  13. Aaaaand it's gone. Sold out now, but if anyone is still interested they should have some on tour and at a few record shops.
  14. The CT site says "only 475 available on the site". Not sure that that means there will only be 475 available (which it might), or that there are 475 allotted for sale on the site, then more copies for tours or perhaps some record stores, like their own brick and mortar shop.
  15. I'm so weak. Like a dog returning to his vomit I actually just bought this from the Captured Tracks website. What can I do though? Dammit I love Wild Nothing, and CT does know how to make a nicely packaged special edition. Unfortunate that I'll have to request a replacement when the vinyl shows up with pressing errors, and unfortunate that they will not respond to my emails when I inevitably do have an issue. Also unfortunate is that it will only arrive at my door a month or so after it's promised release date. Then again I'm now an experienced CT buyer and these issues are not only expected but almost taken appreciatively, as I bend over and lower my pants... Why are some of my favorite artists held hostage from me on such a label? Whatever, as long as they keep the slap bracelets coming.
  16. This is becoming an absolute shit show. I sure hope my second order from the UK actually shows up. This is my third attempt now in the space of one year to buy these things. I don't understand what the problem is. How exactly do they benefit from keeping the pressings so limited? Can they not see that having the rights to press these is like being able to print money? "If you build it they will come." If you press them they will fly off the shelves in exchange for a lot of money. Please just make them available and everyone will happily part with $35-45.
  17. Just got some sound dampening pads for my speakers. I have a less than ideal scenario where my speakers have to be on the same piece of furniture that holds my turntable. These do seem to help, and I also got a set for under my turntable (those will need some work to make fit right, so there's another project). Here's where I got them: http://www.supersoundproofingsales.com/prodinfo.asp?number=09-00002-2EACH
  18. Could you describe the packaging? Is it a double gatefold or a single sleeve containing the lp's. Also does it have a die-cut outer with the ( )'s cut into it? If so what is it made of? Plastic or paper? Thanks!
  19. So a marketplace order from a UK shop through amazon us? When did you place your order? Just wondering how long to expect for shipping, I just did the same thing.
  20. I ordered from Amazon UK on March 15th, it shipped a day later with a delivery estimate of April 5th. Nothing ever showed, I just got a refund and now ordered Agaetis Byrun and ( ) through the Amazon marketplace for about $10 more than my original order.
