  1. FYI: Bongripper - Hate Ashbury going up at 11 AM Central Time tomorrow

and you want an even rarer Bongripper release check this out

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/151663377533?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I got one. ....and I only paid $18 for it. Haha. Benefits of being at one of the few shows they sold them at. Went to Chicago to see them with Uzala, Mount Salem and Mike Schiedt. Bought two, one orange and one red. Gave the orange to a buddy for free. Should have held on to it knowing what they are worth now. Serious trade bait.

  2. I got mine over the weekend. Did yours come with Weedeater rolling papers? I got two packs and I'm going to try the papers out either today or tomorrow.

Yah, mine came with Rolling Papers as well even though I ordered the only version that didn't specifically say it came with papers (I figured they would as it would be odd to only have 1 version not come with them).  Finally listened to the album though.  After the first listen I really wasn't overly excited with it to be honest.  Needs a few more listens though before I cast my final judgement.

Earplugs, I have to wear them now.  Way too many shows up front in my youth.  The final show without earplugs was when I saw Royal Thnder and Baroness and stood up front right next to the speakers for both bands.  Not overly loud bands by any means, but I couldn't hear out of my right ear for 3 days.  It rang for about two weeks and since then my hearing is definitely much worse out of that ear.  I was legitimately worried I'd never hear anything out of that ear again.  So now, earplugs, always.  I bought a massive box of the cheap disposable ones, but I'd be interested in that link so I can have a decent pair.

  3. Saw Graveyard and Clutch last night despite having surgery on my leg 2 hours earlier.  haha.  Sound was shit for Graveyard, but still enjoyed watching them.  Sadly the crowd seemed disinterested, but considering this is Iowa Im not suprised.  There is a reason good tours often skip playing here.  This was my 4th time seeing Clutch, who were awesome as always.  Heard a few new songs, the last of which was so fucking good.  Got me way stoked for the new album.  I left before Mastodon.  I've seen them plenty and never got into Once More Round The Sun.  Considering the tour is in support of that I knew they wouldn't play much of their back catalog.  My buddy who stayed said they played nothing from Remission, 1 song from Leviathan, 2 from Blood Mountain, 2 from Crack The Skye, and the rest was new jams.  Glad I left early.  Had they played Mother Puncher, Workhorse, or I Am Ahab I might have regretted leaving.

Got my Weedeater in the mail, just wish my receiver wasn't currently having issues so I could listen to it.

  4. That Indian is a second press indeed. But both those swirls look better than the initial splatter.

Really?  I prefer the first press, I like the red/black splatter.  Maybe Im just used to it.  The "new" logo looks weird on that LP to me

maybe I get that variant and we trade? Not digging the grey/black at all

I have a bit of a Bongripper soft spot, I might just buy it.  I'll see how things go the day it goes on sale and if I get that urge to buy it.

  5. Been gone for a while visiting the UK.  Saw all kinds of great bands at Desertfest, including Acid King, Dopethrone & Sleep.  Went to Mapledurham Watermill (on the cover of Sabbath's S/T) which was pretty cool.  While record shopping I met Jimmy Page who told me to fuck off which was definitely the highlight of my trip.  Rather disappointed in the amount of vinyl I brought home to be honest.  Sleep did not have a print for the Desertfest show which was a bit of a let down considering the killer one for the 4/20 shows and the Aquarian print for the shows after.  Also bummed tour patches were 1 per person as it kept me from buying some for friends.

  6. PROOOOOVE IIIIIIIT!

Only pic I have. This is my shin. The horse is above me knee. Still needs shaded in. Will get that done after I get back from Desertfest and post pics of the entire thing when its finished. It will cover my entire right leg.

also is it me or does their posts on insta seem to always/semi always be about weed or some shit that makes it seem theyre badasses or something. idk. maybe its just me

I refuse to put money in his pocket any more. The last release I ordered was Slow Season and I felt guilty about it then. He went off on a tangent about Ferguson via his RE Instagram. Save personal opinions for your personal social media. I follow record labels for music news and releases. I said something to that effect and he told me if I didnt like his opinion that I shouldn't buy his releases. So I dont.... and for the record I never said one way another if I agreed or disagreed with his opinion, just that there were other avenues for for something like that
  7. I'd even throw the black album in there, it's fine. S&M is pretty enjoyable too, though it's a live album.

All this aside, I'll probably only ever own the first four. Got a good deal on Ride the Lightning the other day. Got Kill 'Em All and ...And Justice For All with Iron Maiden - Powerslave for $20 total years ago...So I just need an MoP for a decent price and I'm done!

I like all of their albums really, minus St Anger and Death Magnetic.  Yes, they changed.  I get it.  They aren't the same band as they were when they were pissed off, young, and moneyless.  Load and ReLoad were good in their own rite.  Had some new band that wasn't Metallica put out those songs Im sure people would have gobbled them up.  Fix the drum sound on St Anger and it makes 3 songs listenable.  Death Magnetic I liked upon first listen, but it got stale really really fast.  ...I used to massively collect Metallica when I was younger.  Even had some of my art show up on a couple of bootlegs that were put out by other collectors.  I can't remember the last time I picked up a Met album though.  I sold off my collection to buy records I actually wanted to listen to.  I realized nobody needs 150 Metallica bootlegs or 20 copies of Ride The Lightning.

In doom related news, really bummed that Earache pushed back the Sleep FDR releases.  Im willing to bet it has to do with pressing plants being busy for RSD.

  8. Stoked to see Helmet Lady Records signed 1886 and will put out their album Before The Fog Covers The Mount.  Been listening to that album for the past couple of weeks and really digging it.

Psycho California fest announced the breakup of Indian a couple of weeks back, then announced they had gotten Bongzilla to take their place.  Nobody else had confirmed it then though, sad to see it's true.  Drove to Chicago to see them, along with Bible of the Devil.  Sadly I don't remember the concert.  ....the downside to drinking 6 hours prior to the show.
