We just bought a new house with an acre back yard. Our dogs are going to love it!

 

DUDE!  I just bought a house on an acre too!  My dog is going to go nuts...

Think this will sell out?  I definitely want the glacier blue, but I can't justify pre-ordering it 2 months in advance...

So what's the rule? He's just gotta hit one piece of the kit every couple seconds?

 

I feel like you can hardly call what he's doing drumming.  I mean, the other person is actually carrying on the rhythm making it actually sound good and all Andrew's doing is hitting things as basically an accompaniment.  Maybe it's been different over the past 14 hours, but I'm not impressed at all...

That marbled brown and tan fits the cover art so well.

That new song sounds amazing.  Unmap is always hit-or-miss for me, but if the new single is any indication, I'm going to love this album.

It's whatever really.  I guess I'm in the minority (People who don't enjoy this record nearly as much as Ace's previous work).

That's a nice benchmark to set. We shouldn't expect more because he's written less than stellar lyrics before. Sure, tons of his old songs are full of non-sequiturs and cliches. But he's arranged and performed them well. He touched on that a little in this record. I dunno, I guess I just always hoped Ace's music would grow with him. He's got a wife and two kids now. Dude is 31. And trying to do a singer-songwriter thing aimed at high schoolers.

Wait, so you think Lions is NOT the best song because it has terrible lyrics and then you go on to explain that lyrics shouldn't matter if the song is arranged nicely?  Isn't that a contradiction?

How is Lions the best track on here? Are we all hearing the same lyrics?

Ace has always made a mess of things lyrically.

Let's be honest.  Lions is by far the best song on this album.  And Tidal Wave sounds like something Owl City wrote...

My Best Buy order came in with pink vinyl. It looks really, really good with the artwork.  And as stated by someone else, this album sounds way better through a home system than a laptop with headphones.

I don't think I'm even giving the majority of this the chance to sink in. Lions would make it into a summer mixtape though.

 

Fair enough.  Lions is one of the only ones that stuck out to me on first listen too.

I actually just finished The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami.  My first outing of his, and I enjoyed it enough to warrant further looks into his other works.  Has anybody read his 1Q84?  Probably going to start it up soon.

On my first listen.. this is pretty bad. And I'm a big fan of Ace. It seems like everyone wants to write somebody else's record these days.

 

I'm not too impressed either.  Maybe it will sink in and get better?

I don't really understand how this hasn't leaked yet?  Not that it REALLY matters because my copy shows up tomorrow.  Just way too excited to listen to it...

Somebody should really get on Self Titled and TWWK before that doucher does.

After a few more listens this is getting better.  But does anyone else get a Weezer vibe on some of the songs?  I can't kick the association and so now it's all I hear.

For the doubters, this does indeed get better with every listen.

I don't see at all how this is terrible. I was gonna keep em all for myself but now I have a can shortage and could use the money. I'd say actually giving someone half off at best buy is pretty generous

 

I think it's more the fact that you're offering someone to pay you $60 for something you exploited a flawed system for and did nothing to deserve...
