i imagine that someday once more stuff falls in place in life (getting 2 cars, building up some savings, moving into a house) that i'll try to manage a band or two's complete collection. if i ever have it, not a chance am i selling it. i've had the same pokemon card collection for about 12 years now. i even just completed my original 151!

it's hard to face the music, but it just seems that a lot of variant collectors aren't good with financial planning and budgeting. that's why every hour you see some dude post, "Gotta pay some bills/school loans/rent, selling off all my variants!" anything i've EVER collected, I still have. if you see your collection as a collection and not just a bunch of "high-priced items," it becomes a lot easier to hold on to it and see why you got it in the first place.

note: i had started a completely different post until i read the dude's post saying that everything was getting off topic. this started as a pretty unique thread, but got really unoriginal really fast.

this band and smash mouth are in the same boat.

I could say the same thing about jimmy eat world. (gasp!) As far as I can remember, they had one huge single (which annoyed me to no end) and maybe a couple other than that. I don't remember any of those other songs, and I never checked out anything else by the band. Other people seem to love this band (10+ years later). Call it my own ignorance but just as some see AAF as one-hit-wonders, same for me on Jimmy eat world. NEVER HAD AN INTEREST because I hated the single. Same concept, different taste, regardless of the fact that they still put out new music.

for the sake of you actually having a solid point, i really wish you had used a different band in your example. went too far into "shock value" and no one's gonna consider your point.

I don't usually. Like I said, I'm not crazy about sound quality--this one just really stood out on the poor end. I'll see how much my DiscWasher helps. Considering I don't ever clean them when I get them, it's still consistent, ya know?

EDIT: I just DiscWasher'd that sucker like a pro and it still pops through all of the first track and through all the "lulls" on the rest of the A-side. Major disappointment.

- I just cleaned it with my DiscWasher and it didn't change anything. Dang! Great freaking album, too.

- literally does not sound anywhere near CD or download quality.

not quite sure if anyone notices this, or if I'm incorrect, but when you go to NFG's webstore, the first cd you see is Nothing Gold Can Stay, and I thought that cd was one of the rarer ones to find. A reissue perhaps, that would coincide with a reissue of the album on vinyl?

- one sheet of cheap bubble wrap folded around the record, but not taped.

- inside of a manila envelope, which was folded down to create a "7-inch pkg" (hehehehe).

- that was taped. that's it.

magically, the jacket wasn't bent, even when my mailman shoved it inside of my mailbox instead of putting it into a parcel box.

did anyone else have a problem with the shipping that resembles this: The box's top was forced down over the bottom part of the box and consequently ripped it completely up 2 of the corners! It's even still in the shrink wrap!

just had my first day of training at verizon and every single guy in my store has an HTC THUNDERBOLT and one has an DROID CHARGE. i can't say too much about them myself bc i'm new and i've never even had an android device, but they're sold on that thunderbolt.

Loved this record, but everything about the first press of this was so flimsy. Did you make any upgrades to the second press?
