Hahahahahaha
At any rate I got shipping confirmation so that part, at least, is not a deception.
-
This is FINALLY shipping. Mine hasn't arrived yet, but some of my friends have got theirs.
Vinyl is also now available at https://colonies.bandcamp.com

Hahaha yeah no one is going to officially confirm that the Monthly collections are getting an LP release until they are ready to run press!
It seemed like it was a done deal the way Dave was talking about it at the show - heavily in to the planning phase, at the very least. He said the idea for purchasers of the 7" sets to get the discount on the LPs would be codes, probably.

The fact that you're defending xxsilence perfectly proves my point with the overall attitude with this place.
I wasn't defending anyone. You did something less-than-ideal and someone called you out for it. Were they a little bit snarky? Yes. You could have simply laughed it off, apologized, or ignored it. Instead, you immediately started shouting and acting put out. I'm all about helping people and welcoming more to the community, but get that garbage attitude out.
-
OP, you're not going to gain any friends by responding to help in a hostile manner like you have here. In fact, you're the one who seems pompous. You're new. You don't know how things work best around here. Say "sorry, thanks" and move on. It's called being polite.

Why would you buy a ticket when you get a tour laminate in the package?
This band's marketing gimmicks are starting to really grind on me. That said, I'll probably still hit one of these tour dates.
-
If this were a standalone single, I could excuse the lack of compelling b-sides. I love my Timebomb 12" that is just an instrumental on the back. But Dreams is going to be on an LP later this year, so...yeah. Not a need.
-
Pretty Pimpin is such a great track. Kurt does it again. Can't wait for this one. Any limit on the 3xLP version? Seems like it won't be around forever if there's a "standard" 2xLP.
-
Ugh. Wish the LA date was Hum + Failure + Nothing
-
Yeah I'm guessing that the "Indie Exclusive" Amoeba has listed is the same gold vinyl version Fat Possum is offering.
As far as I know, the 7" has no b-side. Possibly the same song on both sides?
-
anybody find the hidden 7" in stores?
I couldn't make it to the store near me that got them in time. They posted on social media that they had 5 copies and to come in and ask for one. It was a white label 7" on gold vinyl with just the single "The Knower" on it.

Audiotree Live session
Chapelcross Towns is great!

But guys, they made a video that says it's good! So it must be good, right?

Attended a Headphones living room date last night and a lot of cool info came to light via audience questions:
1. New Bazan LP has a target release of February 2016. The songs continue in the electronic direction of Monthly Vol. 2, "but there's gonna be guitars on it too."
2. Bazan Monthly was a good experiment, but mostly served as a mechanism for Dave to "get over [his] bruised pussy and just write shit." The goal from here on out is to do an album a year.
3. Monthly Vol. 1 & 2 are both getting LP releases due to popular demand. Purchasers of the 7" sets will get an opportunity to buy the LP versions at cost if they wish.
4. New Overseas LP is "about 60% finished." Remaining songs only need lyrics/vocals/mixing.
5. There are no current plans to do any further Pedro The Lion album tours. The Control tour happened to fall on the anniversary of that album's release but was simply "the most effective way we could think of to raise awareness for and market the re-release of the Pedro vinyl. Jade Tree didn't want to release those albums - fuck those guys - and we were in to the represses about $30,000." Dave also said that he dislikes enough songs on every other Pedro The Lion album to the point that he does not want to play them live.

If you're experiencing a difference in sound, it's likely due to a difference in master and not the compression used. It's doubtful that anyone could hear the difference between two identically-sourced files encoded at 320 ogg and 256 aac played on the same equipment.

I'll just leave this here. My friends put this out a couple years ago. It's good. FFO: Modest Mouse.

I'm getting super excited for this LP already. Yip should bring the hotness.

I guess I've just never felt like Jimmy makes or breaks SP, even if he is definitely the best drummer they've ever had. There have been better songs and there have been worse songs than Zeitgest/American Gothic since Jimmy left; mostly better. BUT 50% of the original lineup still feels better than Billy solo. Hopefully it puts some of the fun back in to playing the older material for Billy.
In a live setting the newer songs sound a lot better to me because the vocals tend to sit much lower in the mix, more like the older records.
-
For me, it's not the drumming that's felt uninspired. The kid Billy got to drum after Jimmy left was basically a Jimmy emulator and Tommy Lee, while definitely a different drummer than Jimmy, also had some interesting things to say behind the kit.
I just really don't like the pop vocal production post-Machina. I think all the songs Zeitgest and forward would sound so much better if the vocals were produced similarly to those on Siamese Dream or Mellon Collie.
-
Not just for silky smooth hair anymore?
-
Yeah the SP reunion in 2007 was originally touted as a Billy/Jimmy affair with musicians-for-hire supporting the live act. Jimmy's departure after that was reportedly unamicable and due, at least in part, to having no creative input. It will be interesting to hear interviews with him about this.
I'm kinda bummed that I'll be missing my date on this tour due to an already scheduled vacation, but here's hoping Jimmy helps finish the Day For Night sessions and that the relationship sticks this time.

I got mine in the mail last week and was so shocked when I opened it! I thought I ordered plain black and had forgotten what the color variant was. Great work all around on this one! Packaging/vinyl color/sound - all are exceptionally executed.
-
I liked it. That opening credit song, though. The only moment of the episode that evoked feelings of the first season was the existential rant that the hippy/priest guy goes on. I liked that the first episode was basically, "look at how truly flawed these three cops are. BAM - now they've all stumbled in to the same case." They've definitely set up an interesting world and premise.
My favorite scene was when Frank (Vaughn) is trying to convince his ex-organized crime colleague to buy in to his project and the guy tells him to chill out and hands him his empty glass. Earlier Frank did the same thing to his assistant/lackey after his "never do anything out of hunger" speech which pretty clearly suggests that the guy might have been an authority figure to Frank at some point in his early shady days and is telling him to know his place.
Oh, and...

Love that the best-looking variant is the least limited.
