Outer plastic sleeves have always done me well. Never bunching or anything. Not a record in my collection is without one.

Albucrazy still crazy, y'all.

These were my favorite cans for quite some time. Superb sound! Someone snag these!

PM'd you a while ago... I want to give you money.

There seem to be a LOT of these left. Wonder if they'll sell out anytime soon?

I'm curious to see how high this thing will be flipped for.

Finally caved and ordered GOTG... I would've hated seeing "sold out" without having grabbed one.

An LP sent from Northern California on 12/12 to me in AZ... ended up in Honolulu on 12/23 and last updated as "departed from Honolulu" on Christmas Day.
Cool, USPS.

Love the OBI Strip on this bad boy... wish I hadn't sold mine forever ago. :-/ I'd do a lot to own it again.

It's on the corner of Southern and Mill. The Camelback one isn't as great.
Is that the one on camelback?
-
Zia Records. The Southern/Mill store is the best. The Thunderbird store rules too.

Bump.

The end of nostalgia-based reissues and reissue labels
The end of $30 reissues of $5 records
The end of major labels' co-opting of Record Store Day
The end of The Vinyl Revival
YES YES YES

Of course he has one, that's such a stupid argument about it devaluing the original. Vagrant couldnt give a fuck about that, or they wouldn't have repressed beggars and major/minor.
I don't have one. I did though. Bought at HT back in the day when even months after release they were plentiful and sold a year or so later for $90. Do I regret it? Of course! Would I buy a 2x12" repress for a fraction of the price of the 4x10" just to have the music on vinyl?
No... because to me, what makes that specific set of songs so special is the specific way they were released. If I really wanted the Alchemy Box again, I'd sell a dozen or so records I care less about and make it happen. At least that purchase would be a good one now that we know definitively that there won't be a repress, right?
All in all, it's not stupid to want a repress, it just wouldn't be my cup of tea.
-
Actually it would be like... any label ever re-pressing something that was said to be limited... It happens all the time.
If it's a 2x12" instead of the 4x10" that was already pressed, it's a different pressing, so the 4x10" is still limited to whatever they pressed it at.
Even if it were a 4x10" it would still be a different pressing and therefor more of less desirable based on its quality compared to the original.
The four discs in four different colors with four different themes (both in music and design) housed in a bound book... anything less than an exact repress would be the compromise of a perfectly executed (besides the botched brown disc) artistic vision. And even then, an exact repress would devalue the OG 4x10, so I can see why Vagrant would be staunch in standing pat. If I were Thrice or Vagrant, I'd probably do the same.

My email asking about Alchemy index:
Hi Ben,
Thanks for checking in here and for your support of Thrice.
I'm afraid this is one LP set that will not be re-pressed. We feel it's such a special piece that paring it down would cheapen it.
Very sorry. Hopefully the other LP re-presses will suffice.
Thanks again!
My response:
Fans appreciate what we already have, for sure. And I respectfully disagree with the alchemy index being cheapened. The set is, and would still be highly sought after. You could offer a pre order only, much like Cake did with their sought after box set. All parties win in that case. Just throw the topic on any vinyl forum and the feedback will speak for itself.

So yes, I'd gladly get involved with a petition to get that repressed.
Actually, I completely agree with his email response. It would be like asking Mondo to repress more of anything they once claimed to be limited.

Some fuck trying to sell a damaged copy of the deluxe for $500. People suck.
"Little smudges"... haha. I've seen the exact copy he's got in person... I didn't buy it because the corner ding is huge.
