1. Rocket From The Crypt would be a good one, so would June of 44. Descendents? Better yet, do box set geneaologies...RFTC/Drive Like Jehu/Sultans/Hot Snakes/etc.....all boxed together. Not every album from every band, just albums that highlight the similarities and differences. That would work better also for bands with just a couple of albums. Of course the logistics of such a feat would be a pain in the ass, but...
2. I would like them both please, check my list.
3. That turntable rules! How much did it weigh? I hope you didn't have to move it up any stairs.
4. The Hellacopters put this out a couple of years ago.
5. I started out with milkcrates, built a cabinet after my girlfriend dumped me, and then went on to this shelf system I picked up at a storables. I've had this the past 6 years, it's lasted 3 moves, and the best part is there are no screws or fasteners to break! Comes apart easy too.
6. Word, I see that there are a bunch of different url's posted now. Right on. Gonna do this thing.
7. Did you get that url from some other part of the photobucket site? I see it's almost the same as what I typed, but not quite. the s282 has changed to i282 and that action command is missing. I just signed up for this little exercise and haven't really checked the photobucket site out yet.
8. Now I just see a question mark where the image should be. Stupid Safari browser. I copied this from the website and then added the appropriate HTML tags. Without that space. Is that correct? Is it Safari that sucks? I wouldn't think so since I can see other folks pictures. And thanks for the complement.
9. I see the link to the website, but really I just want to post the raw image. I just uploaded it to snapfish thinking that was the best way to do it. Is there a better way than using snapfish?
10. I haven't tried to change the sig yet. What I typed for the image didn't show up in the previous post text. it was http://www2.snapfish.com/slideshow/AlbumID=222513361/PictureID=4893030914/a=104049545_104049545/t_=104049545 I just copied that straight from snapfish. it had on the left and right respectively. no space between the g and ]
11. still having issues. I just typed the following... directly into the message box and I didn't see a picture. Am I missing something? This is my first time using snapfish so maybe it's something I'm mixing up there.
12. Okay, I am far better at buying records than working the internet, so hold your laughter and please help. So how the hell am I supposed to post pictures into a message on this here message board? I have a snapfish account that I created to aid in the process (or hinder, what the hell do I know...I'm old!!). Do I just copy the web address for the picture into the message? Stop laughing at me!!! Do I have to swear at my computer louder? I was trolling in some sort of help section and that made it seem like whatever html file tag you use would have to end in an image suffix (i.e. .jpg, .gif, etc...) When I look at my picture on snapfish (and I assure you it is a moderately great picture) I don't see the file suffix. I just see a real long url. Yes I said both HTML and URL in the same paragraph. No I do not know what they mean. Am I retarded on top of old? I know this can't be difficult. I just want to post pictures so I can be a show off like everyone else. Please advise.
13. It's all about the Imic from Griffin. Thirty dollars has never brought so much joy.
14. Considering I'm an old fart, I started buying vinyl when there weren't any other format options. That makes it a lot easier to start a record collection. Seriously though, the collecting part shouldn't take any thought, it should come from the blood. I HAVE to get the records? Why? Because I'm a friggin' nerd that doesn't have a choice. Luckily I'm at that point in life where I've finished college, got a real job, have dual incomes, blah blah blah. Now affording records isn't as much as a problem as finding records I want to buy that are affordable. Ebay has killed collecting and turned it into some junior league stock market. I remember many points in my life though where I couldn't buy nearly as much as I wanted. But...this crap is in my blood, I have made many sacrifices in order to keep the habit alive (and yes, it is a habit, not a "hobby" and I am hopelessly addicted). Like the prom. What punkrock kid is going to the prom? For shame? You could get a months worth of vinyl for the cost of the prom. You and your girl should steal some beer and go tear shit up (or listen to your records). You will have more fun. Trust me. My advice to the collecting newbie is to stay away from pressing variations and stay away from having a "complete" collection of established bands untill you have a good enough collection to start trading. That will allow you to buy more records from more bands. Why spend 100 dollars for one record when you can spend 10 for 10 records? For me it's more about hearing lots of different music then getting every variation for every pressing from one band. All that says to me is "wow, that person spent a lot of money on five of the same record". I know that is satisfying in it's own right, but IMO that is what separates the collector from the fanatic. For me it's far more enjoyable to find a new band that you really dig, get their records at the beginning, and smile when you see someone else paying 100 dollars for the same thing five years later. I am suffering the same fate just hearing Fucked Up a couple of months ago and trying to track down all their old records at a reasonable price. Anyone got their records for cheap/trade? If so, see my list for poss. trades.
15. If I am seriously nerding out over a specific band I try to get my hands on whatever pressing I can find of every single release there is, usually I'm more interested in just getting the record at a reasonable price than getting the rarest version. I've never been one to get all colors/all pressings. But if a record is new I will try and get the coolest packaging/rarest version I can get my hands on before it sells out and ends up on ebay at a redicuous price. And the album has to kick ass (or have the potential of kicking ass). If you look at my list in the signature, a lot of aspects of my collection could be considered more of "quantity over quality" with regards to the pressings/versions I have. Never been one to buy a record from a band I don't like just because it is rare. Hell, I'll skip crappy records by bands I do like. Like that shitty Bad Religion record for example. Guess I'm rambling here, too much coffee.
16. My first attempt at purchase was 412. Second attempt, with proper shipping, was 426. It's a good day to be in the office, being a geologist I never know if I'm going to be on the road. Woo Hoo!
17. Yeah, I got all excited when I got the email and ordered immediately without reading the fine print about shipping and the webstore defaulted to media mail. Once I read the fine print I went ahead and re-ordered immediately using UPS. I sent a note with my second order explaining the mixup. I hope it all works out. It is kinda screwy that it didn't default to UPS shipping. I hope no one gets screwed due to that SNAFU.
18. I just put my order in. Freaking Stoked!!!!!!Waited too long for this with way too much stress. Then I screwed up the shipping thing by using media mail. Dammit. Realized my mistake and re-ordered the box w/UPS ground (19 dollars). I left them a message about my mistake so hopefully they don't cancel my order when they see I have placed two orders. For those curious, for shipping to Oregon 3 day UPS was almost 50 dollars. The note says it weighs 11 pounds. Fucking awesome.
19. I hope there is a special place in hell for whatever asshole is using this box set for flipping and trying to make a buck. If you want to make money buy stock in Apple or start selling meth. I am sure ISIS meant the whole project to be a celebration of the band and all of there accomplishments, not another way to have nerds make money. I've been collecting my whole life and it's due to my genuine love of records and their packaging, profit has never entered my mind. I would only hope that everyone else would have a similar view in light of the immensity of the release. That being said....if I get shafted on getting this I would be willing to throw in unopened copies of both the red and clear japanese bag versions of the latest LP on top of the sticker price in order to get me one of the boxes from said potential profiteers.
20. Sweet! I grew up in Wisconsin near Green Bay and went to a few shows at the Metro. That place was always a blast. Now I live on the West Coast and have been spoiled by all of ISIS's bonus small west coast tours.
