  1. Do you prefer it over any of their other records?

I prefer it over both Around the Fur and Adrenaline. I got into Deftones with White Pony, so I don't have the attachment to their first two records that a lot of people do. I think I would pick White Pony as a clear favorite, and then Diamond Eyes, S/T, SNW and KNY all basically tied with each other.

To be fair though, I still haven't given that much of a chance to their first two. I've listened to each a few times over the years, but haven't spent much time with either.

  2. I think I'm the only one that isn't really that bothered by the shipping delays. If they were a shady company and I was worried about my record not coming, like that Soul Temple label that has put out the last few Ghostface records, then I'd be getting frustrated with them. But, I appreciate their products, and I appreciate the quality of them, and they seem to be pretty good about responding to emails. So, if it takes them a while to ship something out because their business is doing well, I can live with that. If I get it now, or in a month or two, I'll live.

That being said, it's cool that these are just about to ship.

  3. Yeah, I agree. If he only wants the people that "really, really want it" to get it, just try to tell those people to watch out for an announcement of it going online, or follow him on twitter and he'll announce it or something like that. Charging more for a record to ensure that the people that want it the most get it just seems like he's punishing his fans, rather than helping them get a rare record. I'm a big fan of his, so I'm not trying to be too negative about him, or say he's a dick because of this, because from everything I've heard, he's not. I'll happily support him by buying the regular version. Just think that's dumb reasoning to make your fans pay more.

That being said, if there is something more deluxe about it, other than just being a more rare color, I'd happily buy one, if it has something "deluxe" about it to justify the price.

But, I guess I should just email him about it, instead of complaining on a message board, since he said he's open to ideas. Anyway, whatever.

  4. I think I'll probably just get the red version then. It'd be cool to get the more limited one, but I'm definitely not spending $45 on it, and I'd rather just get the record than wait a couple of weeks to see if it's still around. Not really a fan of this method of selling a record, but whatever.

I don't really see the purpose of it, other than a "cash grab." I understand his reasoning, I guess, but I disagree with it. Oh well, I'm okay with the regular version.

  5. I think I may be in the minority, but I've been a little disappointed with this album. There are some songs that I really like, but it seems that half of the songs on it have lost something that I really liked from their last album. Kind of the atmospheric/post-rock feel that Garden Window had, maybe. Maybe it'll grow on me more. I've only made it through it a handful of times, so that's definitely possible. But, it seems like most of what I've seen from reviews have been positive, so to each their own. Good record still, just perhaps moving a little away from my taste. Thoughts?

  6. It was a huge dilemma for me. I bought tickets for Americanarama right when they went on sale (before the Twilight Concert Series lineup was announced), but I knew it was on the same night as one of the Twilight shows. I bought tickets anyways hoping it would be an artist playing that night that I didn't care for. It ended up being The National, who out of the whole lineup I wanted to see the most.

I was going back and forth between the two choices. See the National/Sharon Van Etten for $5 or keep my $80 ticket to see Bob Dylan, Wilco and My Morning Jacket. In the end I went with Americanarama and loved it, but I still have lingering regrets for missing The National. I still haven't listened to Trouble Will Find Me because I don't want to bum myself out.

I was in the same boat. I would've loved to have seen them and Sharon Van Etten. But, Americanarama was pretty awesome too.
