  1. I was disappointed in Valar Morghulis, but I really liked the two before it, so... Also, it's been the only one so far that hasn't really fit its theme.

I'll definitely be picking up that new Ommegang brew. I'm still I hoarding a bunch of the previous ones.

Jealous. I don't have what most people refer to as "self-control." What I do have is a bunch of empty bottles from the previous releases...

They look cool though, so that's something.

  2. Holy shit I completely forgot it's only a week holy shit.

This new season will deviate a fair amount from the book so there should be a lot less spoilering.

Yeah, not only are they going to have to start doing things that haven't even happened yet, they're doing character arcs/ plotlines completely differently -

They've already said a somewhat big character that is currently still alive in the books dies this season

. Following the books isn't going to help much longer... we know nothing.

On a bit of a side note, is anyone going to be getting the newest Ommegang GOT beer? Comes out today.

  3. Preview he posted that clearly shows Rocko

Edit: theres also a picture on IG that shows the back with all the songs. 41 songs on the lp...

Pretty sure it's the exact same tracklist of some Nickelodeon compilation album I got from a cereal box or something as a kid.

Edit: it's fucking this. The Rocko picture matches.

If I would've known as a child, that one day I could own a vinyl record of people covering this, I'd know that everything would be OK.

  4. I wish the worst for hot topic. shop at a record store or if you don't have one in your town, buy direct or from a distro.

Jeez. At least they put out some good releases.

Not really trying to hate on HT, I've bought a decent amount of records when they have sales and clearances (not to mention they're the closest "record" store to me back home), but all the albums they get "exclusive rights" or whatever to are on Universal; I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem likely that a major label is going to license anything to a little indie label (unless you count MTS, but look how that went...). They're going to license to a big corporation capable of mass distribution with millions (?) of shoppers. David doesn't really stand a chance against Goliath of getting any Thrice album pressed.

  5. Don't know who has seen this, but it was posted on their Fbook a few weeks ago:

THE FELIX CULPA - Commitment Vinyl Reissue

    March 6th, 2012

I know, I know… I have not written on here in some time. Not for lack of content, but mostly just because I’ve been really, REALLY busy. I still love you, blog & blog readers. I do kinda hate this particular blog format. But I digress…

Anyway, here’s a quick post about my now-deceased band, The Felix Culpa’s posthumous vinyl reissue of our first full length album, Commitment through Hundo.

The original album cover that I designed way back in 2004 was actually one of my first album projects ever, done when I was just considering diving into the freelance music design waters. I thought it would only be fitting/interesting to see what it would look like if I re-imagined it now, after nearly a decade worth of practice and 100’s of projects under my belt. Also, I just really wanted an excuse to do one more big Culpa related piece as a farewell gift… a bit of closure perhaps… for the other guys in the band, our friends & fans and for myself a little bit too. It’s design-therapy, a new field I’m pioneering.

So here’s a before and after of the old 2004 Commitment cover followed by the new 2012 one. I was intending the redesign to be a surprise for the people that ordered the album. They’d receive it and open it to find the artwork completely redone, and all go “whoaaa…”, but unfortunately the process of finding the original audio masters and having the vinyl lacquers cut and approved has just taken wayyyy too long so I figured I’d post something to tide everyone over.

There's more at http://blog.midwestlove.com/ about re-doing the cover, and the back cover as well.

edit: well, shit... that fucker is bigger than I expected. oh well.

  6. Props to Hot Topic for rarely doing pre-orders.

The only 2 vinyl pre-orders Ive done were The Devil Wears Prada and the latest Four Year Strong and the labels really wanted to do pre-orders on those so I said ok since HT was getting a complete exclusive/exclusive color. Normally Id rather just wait til records are in stock before selling them. Makes it more simple and causes less problems for the people buying the records as well as the people selling the records.

...but as you've said before, Hot Topic/ you are not a record label... so not really sure how this applies. do you have anything to do with the actual production of the records themselves?
